The scene opens up with a view of a storm raging in the distance. Lightning strike after lightning strike lighting up the night sky, eerily illuminating the clouds of the storm. The wind is taking the trees almost to their breaking points as they lie almost horizontally to the ground. The camera pans the scene and there, in all of its majesty, only visible when lightning flashes, is at least an EF-3 tornado.
All of the madness. All of the turmoil. Oh the humanity!
The scene then cuts to that same shot being seen on a television screen. The shot pans out and we see Jonny Cedrone sitting on his leather couch, remote in hand, flipping through the channels out of boredom. He shuts off the television, leans forward, sets the remote down on the coffee table, picks up his glass of scotch, stands up from the couch, and walks towards the panoramic window overlooking the beautiful New York City skyline which is lit up like a Christmas tree now that it gets dark at 0:dark-thirty.[/i]
“Turmoil. Unrest. Chaos. Mayhem. Havoc.”
“Devastation. Destruction. Wreckage. Obliteration. Eradication.”
“All of which has been on my mind since XIII, the night I lost the Tag Team Championships for Gerard Angelo and myself.”
“Angelo has nobody to blame for that loss but me. Hell, I have nobody to blame for that loss but me. It was all my fault.”
“I just didn’t show up that night. There’s no good excuse for it. There’s no excuse for it at all! I gave it everything I had but everything I had wasn’t enough. Simply, no excuse at all.”
Jonny turns and faces the camera
“So what do you do after such a devastating loss, you may ask?”
“You lick your wounds. You learn from your mistakes, and ya move on. Move on to the next adventure.”
“It’s been three weeks since that blow to my and Angelo’s egos, but with those egos aside, all congratulations and attaboys go to The New Brotherhood. They didn’t back down a step. They gave it everything they had and weren’t happy until they got the win and the Tag Team Championships. We beat each other’s asses like we owed one another money, but you were the ones that were able to walk away with the Gold.”
“Congratulations and enjoy it because you never know what’s waiting for ya around the corner.”
“I’m only speaking for myself because I know Angelo has his hands full with holding the briefcase and can cash it in at any time, but if he’s willing to challenge once again, I’d definitely be down to do so!”
Jonny walks over to his wet bar and pours himself another glass of scotch.
“But onto what’s next on MY plate. Let’s talk about chaos. Let’s talk about devastation. Let’s talk about turmoil. Let’s talk about the Turmoil tournament.”
Jonny takes a sip from his glass and sets it down on the bar before continuing to address the camera.
“It’s that time of year where Action Wrestling crowns the Wrestler of the Year. The Wrestler of the Year has to go through a rigorous tournament filled with only the best of the best in this company…hell, it’s filled with only the best in this industry!”
“It starts off with twelve fierce and hungry competitors, but it ends with just one.”
“This week in the first round I take on Jimmy “Big Tyme” Jackson.”
“Now Jimmy Jackson is a rising upstart here in Action Wrestling!”
“He’s built himself a winning record since joining the company! He’s shared the ring with the biggest names in the company and never backed down!”
“Very impressive! Especially for someone that’s only been here since May! I mean come on! He’s already gone to war over and has held Gold here with the CBS Championship.”
“I’m very impressed Jimmy! You’re definitely proving your name right because you’re absolutely “Big Tyme”! No doubt about it!”
“And as well as your career has been so far, the sky is legitimately the limit. And let’s be honest here, why set a limit at all?! Aim for the stars big man! That way if you miss, you still can land on the moon and there’s nothing wrong with landing on the moon while you recoup and try again!”
“You’re going to the top and the Turmoil Tournament would be a huge step in that direction…”
“There’s only one problem.”
“This Monday Night at Clash…you’re landing on the moon.”
“Just think of it as a little detour. Like I said, there’s nothing wrong with landing on the moon. You’re still on your trajectory to the top…you’re just gonna have to wait a little while longer before you reach your destination.”
“On Clash, you’re going to stand toe-to-toe with The Wrestling Machine, Jonny Cedrone. Yeah, I may be coming off of a loss, I may be coming back from healing from all of my injuries from that war that Angelo and I went through with the Brotherhood at XIII, but it is what it is.”
“I want this.”
“I need this.”
“I’m getting this.”
“All injuries healed. All egos healed. All hopes and dreams are pieced back together. The one thing that will help mend those broken dreams is standing tall at the end of this tournament.”
“And let’s be honest Big Man, I know that I’m in for a fight. I know that this isn’t going to be some walk in the park. I’m going to have to earn this win. I’m going to have to sacrifice my body in order to beat you. But don’t think for one second that I won’t! I’ll do whatever it takes and I mean every syllable of that statement. The wars that you’ve been in so far in your AW career are nothing compared to what you’re in for on Monday night.”
“Believe me.”
“And after I’m finished with true talent, I step into the ring with Downfall. Somebody that I know that I can beat; somebody that I know that I WILL beat!”
“Downfall, you may have gotten the best of me whenever we’ve stepped in the ring before but this time will be different. The past couple of years you’ve been in the finals. You won in 2021 and you lost last year to Spencer Adams. Not taking anything away from your ability and your dedication but spoiler alert: you’re not even getting past the quarter-finals this year! One way or another, I’m making sure you’re not making it far in this tournament.”
Jonny takes another sip of his scotch, takes a look down at his glass and smiles before setting it back down on the bar.
“Ya know, through all of the ups and downs that I’ve been through since joining AW a couple of years ago, The People are still behind me. I’ve gotten so many letters and cards and emails and texts and dm’s and im’s from so many people from all around the world letting me know how much support I still have from all of you.”
Jonny looks into the camera again
“Your love and support means so much to me, especially with how many lows we’ve been through the past couple of years! You’re still behind me. You still support me. You’re still that driving force behind my career here. As confident that I am that I will win this tournament and become the Action Wrestling Wrestler of the Year for 2023, your love and support humbles me greatly.”
“But it’s WITH your love and support that I will beat Jimmy Jackson on Monday night – and I’m gonna need all the help I can get with that one. It’s WITH your love and support that I beat the hell outta Downfall and eliminate him from the tournament early! And it’s WITH your love and support that I make it to the Finals and on November 30th, in Los Angeles, California, at Turmoil – we will ALL stand proud as I become the 2023 Wrestler of the Year! The most prestigious award one can win in this industry, and I will have nobody to thank for that but each and every one of you!”
Jonny takes one last drink of his scotch before getting back on track in his promo.[/i][/font]
“But before we get there, we have one speed bump along the way.”
“Jimmy Jackson! You and I meet for the very first time. It’s bigger than the World Series. It’s bigger than the Super Bowl. It’ bigger than the World Cup. It’s bigger than the World Championship. It’s bigger than you or I. It’s the ability to say that you are the best of the best in Action Wrestling. It’s the right to say that you are the absolute best this industry has to offer.”
“When it’s all said and done, the winner has gone through the biggest names in wrestling and has proven that they are – without a shadow of a doubt – the best there is.”
“It all starts with this match.”
“You better know that I’m going to be bringing my best. I already know that you’re going to bring yours. But no matter how hot your career has been so far this year, it’s not going to matter Monday night.”
“You may have come from Annapolis, MD. Home of the Naval Academy! But no matter what you may have learned along the way, no matter the depth of your amateur wrestling abilities, it’s not going to be enough to get past me on Monday night.”
“No doubt about it, we’re going to put on a wrestling clinic! We’re going to do our best to tie each other into knots but at the end of the night, it’s going to be Jonny Cedrone who advances to the next round to take down Downfall. It’s going to be Jonny Cedrone who advances to the Finals. Then it’ll be Jonny Cedrone who will win it all this year!”
“Big Man. Big Tyme. Big Money. You’re definitely ALL of those things! It’s just not your time yet. It’s mine!”
Jonny winks into the camera as the scene fades to black.
All of the madness. All of the turmoil. Oh the humanity!
