It's part of life to grow. I did that. I was afforded the opportunity and finally stood on the mountain above everyone else. My words became a reality; my actions were in fate's hands. I celebrate it by turning dreams into nightmares. Now no one will doubt me.
SLUMBER.
The abandoned train tracks near Vermillion separate the ghost town from city life. Serenity walks down alongside the rusty rails with her hands buried in the pockets of her black leather jacket. She enjoys the scenery of the withered trees, the dusty soil, and the smell of degraded metal, having her eyes set ahead on her walk.
"Dreams do come true, Dorian. You were right. Fulfilling dreams for yourself and others does uplift your happiness. I'm sure Murdo and Lionel enjoy being new, the cruiserweight tag team champions, but what about you, Dorian?"
She scoffed, thinking about what he could say.
"What about your dreams? You've tried twice to have an opportunity at the cruiserweight championship. I took those from you. I defeated you in a fatal four-way, and just when you thought I would join you again, my path was forged to have the belt you meagerly chase."
"I know it's a hard pill for you three to swallow. The fact that mere women like myself, Aphriya, and Azzurine had risen to power before you all could."
"But is it your fault? Yes. You spent all this time going in back and forth with The Dirge that you let this escape your hands. You came into Action Wrestling to be dominant, but all you've proven, Dorian, is that you know nothing."
Serenity crossed over to the other side and continued on her march.
"I like walking here better than being in the city. You've led your men to victory, and they are champions. The next goal is for you to become cruiserweight champion to reign over my brand. There's just one problem? That champion is now me."
"You couldn't get past me, whether in the ring or behind the scenes. The Dreamers may have defeated The Deathstars, but you're stepping into the ring with three women who have done much more than all of you combined."
"What do you think this match is? Do you get to walk into South Dakota and get the chance to say you scored a victory over me before CruiserHavoc? You must be more of a fool if you believe I will allow that to happen. Your dreams mean nothing. Your aspirations mean even less. I'm the face of this brand and the leader of all three of you!"
On her walk, she found herself at the end of the trail leading to a dark tunnel barely illuminated by the dying lights that have dulled over the years. She climbed up the stairs and followed the pathway enjoying the eerie sounds until seeing the morning ahead.
"You call yourself a leader? Congratulations, you led your men to a futile mission. Their first appearance as cruiserweight tag team champions will spark questions about their validity. When they fall to Aphriya Adler and Azzurine Vebbins, they will look to you for guidance, but all you will do is offer an apology."
"Dorian Bateman. The man who led The Dreamers to surrender; The man who tried so hard to be the new cruiserweight champion that he has forgotten the teenager who surpassed him."
"Dorian. You're a pathetic living virus that spreads false hope to anyone who is pathetic to listen. With Teo, he backed up his overdrawn metaphors, but he backed them up until now. I hold the greatest prize on this brand, the closest you'll ever get to it."
She escaped the tunnel from the other side and found herself at an intersection where traffic was heavy. She sighed, knowing her loneliness was ending, but she smiled, feeling the sun's warm rays.
"My dreams are your nightmares. They have haunted you, and now you believe this is your time. It's not Dorian. All your dreams will be that, just dreams."
"My dreams are now a reality, and you can't wake up. Welcome, Dorian, to my world."
