The Losers
Listen son, fuck what you lost yesterday, and take what tomorrow has to offer.
Boba’s voice rings out as Alister jumps awake from his deep sleep. Sitting up in bed he looks around his hotel room, empty, dark with the exception of a single ray of morning sun shining through a crack in the shutters. He sits on the side of the bed looking down at the floor, slightly wincing as he stretches, still sore from this past Monday’s tag team battle against Odin and Sam. He moves his head back and forth as loud pops and cracks can be heard. He stands up does a slight stretch and walks over to his bag. He takes out a Vanguard shirt and puts it on. He walks over to the “coffee bar” in his room. Looking down at the instant coffee and powdered creamer he lets out a sigh and starts to heat up the over priced bottle water provided.
“Tea is for fancy men and cunts, we drink coffee because it makes us bitter to fight off death.”
He looks himself in the mirror above the “bar” and watches as it slowly starts to fog up just above the electric kettle.

Alister sits on a bench overlooking the Mississippi river on the boarder of the French Quarter, watching people walk by. He watches the ducks frolic in the water, dipping their heads under and back up.
Sometimes we all have to sit down and just enjoy the moment, we get way to caught up in the stupidity of yesterday. I can’t tell you how many times people try so hard to live in the past, good or bad. Boba had a word for those types of people, Cunts. Even though we all become a cunt once in a while, the goal is to not wake up one. Especially if you don’t shower, no one likes a dirty human who’s also a cunt. I guess the point I’m trying to get at is yesterday is yesterdays problem, today, tomorrow, we have a whole list of other problems go head first on. We work hard on our craft, or at least I do, and sometimes that is enough and sometimes it isn’t, but regardless, if we are always worried about what we did, we sometimes loose track of where we’re going. I know the emotional toll it takes on us, as mortals we feel things, but I learned a long time ago, that we use those to push to the next level.
Besides, if you keep the grind, put that work in, struggles will turn into ironclad experience that will eventually put you to the position you strive for. No one will ever be able to say they will out work me, most because if they do, I will just get better. I’m not the shortcut type, but I am open to equalizers. What they can say is the last two matches I have been a loser, which funny enough could be said about my opponents as well.
Another on goer passing by chirps up and says You’re not a loser man, don’t be so hard on yourself. Looking up at the young lady who said this, he reaches his had out to get her attention and signals for her to sit next to him, which she oddly enough does.
Mo Charaid let me talk to you, not sure if you know anything about what we do, but Easton, Kyle, and myself have all had a decent string of bad luck. I know nothing new right we all do, but man it really sucks when part of that bad luck is getting punched in the face. Take Easton, great fella love I get another shot to fight him again. He’s had two matches in the last month, first one was against yours truly, and it didn’t work out for him, but it did me. Then he went on 2 weeks ago and had a fucking crowbar match! I’m pretty sure outside the contacts of the ring, that is called attempting murder, and I think everyone was worried about him after taking that hit to the back of the heid. Hats off to him for taking this week’s match so soon. It's odd to even say that Kyle Kemp is also on a little losing streak.
She looks at him with an almost blank stare, not giving a polite nod pretending to understand who he is talking about.
He’s like the Khloe Kardashian, big deal, been to the top a few times, but keeps falling out of the light. In this world though, he usually is one you want to avoid, unless you are a little off like me. I feel like royalty in AW, they keep sending legends to have fun with, sure I may not get the win, but I still have the fun. I think Kyle will offer a lot of learning experiences, show us young guys how someone on his level navigates a triple threat. Fun story, both of our last matches have been tag matches, and we both had the same luck. This man is a grand slam champion, I mean he has had most of his luck in tag team situations, but the man has still won the big one and more singles titles than I have, so I can’t say he’s not the man.
I guess the point I am getting at, is we are all losers once in a while, life isn’t perfect like that. Even someone as established and successful as a Kyle Kemp, and like the movie, just because you lose once in a while, doesn’t mean you just let that be who you are. Though I love kind words, I happily accept yesterday’s nomination, so that it can fuel today’s goal, of working towards a position for a championship. Mar sin leat, charaid.
He stands up and walks off leaving the young woman very confused with what just happened.
