Doctor Todd, sitting in his chair, with his notepad on his lap is observing Adelaide Ainsworth carefully, as she sits on his leather couch, nervously twisting her brunette locks around the index finger on her left hand.
He sighs to break the silence, drawing Adelaide’s eyes to his attention. “Adelaide, in one of our last sessions you were here you were telling me about your time as a stripper.”
“Yeh,” she says absent-mindedly.
“Were you happy with how you told me things happened?”
“What do you mean?” she inquires, genuinely confused.
“Well, Adelaide, I’ve come to watch your promo,” he says, making quotation marks in the air. “And the person you project doesn’t mirror the person I see in these sessions.”
“So?” she questions.
“It got me thinking about the stories you’ve told - how much of your memory is plagued by the phenomenon known as the Mandela Effect.”
“All that shit is real.” Adelaide says sternly as she adjusts her body position, pushing herself forward in show of aggression towards Dr. Todd. The daydream has left her facial expression, replaced with the demeanour of belligerence.
“Hmm.” he says without any context.
“You saying I’m a liar, Doc.” she says, pushing her phrasing aggressively.
“Not at all. I was just wondering…” deliberately leaving his words hanging in the air.
“Wondering what!?” she demands with a stamp of authority to her voice.
“Why are you so afraid.”
“Third time’s a charm.”
“For my sake I bloody well hope not.”
“On one hand, it shows that you have the gumption to keep coming back after I knock you down, on the other hand it shows that you fail to learn, fail to adapt, fail to grow. Since, the last time I put you down - you’ve failed time and time again when it’s come to expanding your horizons. You’ve lost your chance at the CBS Championship - twice. You failed at your chance to burst the bubble and break into Turmoil. You’ve had a modicum of success mixed in there - of course you have, that’s why you and I are staring at each other again. But for every win you’ve tarnished yourself with equal or greater losses.”
“I get it - winning is fucking tough, especially in Action Wrestling. But, how can you honestly believe you’ll unseat me - when you lack the consistency in the ring. How can you think you’ll finally get to equal Claire Hawkins’ record when you flip-flop between winning and losing more than an Olympic gymnast tumbles across the floor.”
“Fact is, you can’t, Tatianna.”
“Fact is, you won’t, Tatianna.”
"While you've scaled the heights before, now when the ladder is there to climb you fall down like you're playing ring-a-rosy with imaginary friends. And this time the stakes are higher - more pressure for you to be crushed by. Ignore the misnomer, this ain't no unification match - I am WrestleVerse Champion. This is my prize, just as the Television Title is my prize and they both will remain mine. Because, as history shows, when the pressure comes crashing down, you turn to coal and I make diamonds."
"The irony? Is that while you cling to your existence and place in the world - just like the coal industry - the narrative of your importance has changed. Once the lifeblood and a necessity, coal has become a cancer on industry just like you and those who define our world seek a better alternative."
"Me."
"Let's be honest - everyone wants those diamonds."
"I've got to commend your commitment to your cause and your drive to stay true to yourself. It ain't something that most can do in this age of ADHD attention spans. But you, you're real fucking solid and real fucking dumb all wrapped up in one. We've both heard Einstein's theory on insanity - I ain’t need to repeat it verbatim. But, Tatty, you're living proof of concept. Sure, you've garnered early progress here in Action Wrestling but now you've hit your brick wall you keep looking to climb over it despite the fact you've ground your fingertips to the bone looking for a grip that simply isn't there. In all this time, I doubt you've looked to the left or the right for another way to get it done."
"But that's not your fault is it, Tatty?"
"It's the walls."
"Cry me a fucking river."
"Don't worry, I know you will."
"It's pretty obvious in your life on this planet, that moaning about everything is the one thing you've managed to perfect - fucking crybaby."
“And in some aspects you shouldn’t have to change, but when the competition evolves you can’t sit there complaining and expect anyone worth a damn will give a shit. Ruby cares - you pay her too. I not sure Hope gives a shit - but if she does you fuck her to care. That’s the sum of who cares about your bleating. Now, roll back for a second - if you don’t change and every man and dog runs past you - that’s on you, not on us. It’s not just about being a veteran and expecting us less experienced types just to bow in your reverence - you’ve got to bring something to the table.”
“You’ve got to evolve.”
“Two years ago, I was simply known as Lissie Hope’s sidekick. I was just the girl that said fuck and cunt. Shit, girl, some people thought it was funny to call me Vagina Dandy. Now, it's my name they speak with whispered awe. They talk about what I can do - what I will do.”
“I evolved.”

“You’re the same today as you were yesterday and undoubtedly will be again the same tomorrow and the day after it. It’s a classic flaw in your makeup, but that’s ok, Tatty. It just means that I know what I need to do to beat you and keep my titles come Monday Night.”
“That’s when you lose.”
“One.”
“Two”
”Three.”
