The Cruiserweight title is the pinnacle of CruiserClash and the focal point of mi El Dorado…
"Teo Blaze… You represent an hombre who knew he could change his stripes at the drop of a sombrero when things started to overwhelm his way of life… The depression and the drinking took hold of you, so badly that you found yourself in the land of my people… You took pity from a living legend in Hector Habanero and after he lifted you from the disgrace that you were… He gifted you the most sacred thing in all of Lucha Libre… A mask and you took on the new persona of Teo Del Sol and you bought up his dying gym… You see, all of you gringos saw that as you paying respect to Hector, but WE all saw it as a slap in the face, pandejo. You erased Habanero's name right out of the gym and you slapped your name on it, because that's what made your broken ego feel good at that moment… You see, I own my pride, perro, but you most certainly do not. If you did, you wouldn't have to reinvent yourself at every turn… The moment i rip that cruiserweight title from your unconscious hands, we all know where the story will take you, Blaze… You may not throw the mask back on, but you'll claim you have a greater calling and you'll move to Clash where, if we all remember you floundered, getting lost in the shuffle before choosing to move to CruiserClash… You're an easy read from someone who isn't wet behind the ears like the rest of your opponents. They represented try-hards who saw your legacy as something that'll give them the 'rub' in this business… They bowed at your feet and they failed to get the job done… It's because they lacked focus and they lacked direction… But me, perro, I'm following mi Road to El Dorado straight TO YOU. I know where you are and I know what I must do to defeat you in that squared circle…"
I stand in the middle of my own wrestling ring that mi poppy, Paco built in our garage. It has old bones and plenty of marks on the mat that remind me of paying my dues with mi Poppy showing me the ropes.
"I talked a lot about what your history and what you represent, Teo… But do you know what I represent? I represent mi familia latina, I represent mi familia Mexicana, and I represent lucha libre to the fullest, which means that this title match is more than just a title match to me… I have a duty, Teo, to remind you that the GIFT that you threw away has consequences…"
Mi mija walks into the garage with a water bottle in hand.
"I brought you a water, poppy."
"Aww, thanks mija, I was just in the middle of talking to the AW faithful."
"Yay, can I watch?"
Her doe eyes looking up at me in the ring.
"I don't know, mija, Poppy can get-"
She cuts me off.
"Pleeeease, Poppy, pleeeeease?!"
"Okay, just take a seat and don't tell your abuela about this, si?"
She nods and takes a seat on a metal chair at ring side, as I return my attention back to Teo.
"Teo, what you do in the ring may be flashy and you have a history of getting the job done by throwing all caution to the wind… But I AM LUCHA and I am DESTINED to be the one to remind you of the sanctity of Lucha Libre. You can't just swing by Mexico on a drunken bender and simply learn lucha… Maybe if you took what Hector taught you seriously, you wouldn't have disgraced our culture as bad as you did… Teo, you're in the way of my destiny and for you, that's the worst place you have been in your career, especially while you're holding on to the Cruiserweight title that I'm destined for."
I look to mija who's hanging onto every word.
"This is for mi familia latina, mi familia Mexicana, mi lucha, and most importantly mi familia and mi mija."
