Serenity Holmes likes this

"A bathroom break, cuz and by the time I get back you got those dos putas put down? Couldn't you have tried a bit more theatrics?"
Paco is right, and that pains me to say, but the match was a BLINK and you’ll miss it kind of showing. I was embarrassed for the likes of Freya and the professional choke artist, Alex Marley. Simply put, I was more driven than them and that’s the kind of drive that should have Serenity Holmes thinking long and hard about our coming CruiserClash main event.
“Those dos putas don’t deserve as much air time as they have been getting anyway and after I wiped the floor with them, I think the powers that be know that.”
“So what’s for breakfast, cuz? I’m light weight starving.”
“You’re always hungry, Primo… Let’s go check in on mi madre.”
Paco and I make our way into the house from the connected garage, mi madre, mi mija, and tito Sal are sitting in the kitchen with a table of assorted breakfast offerings.
“Hell yeah, auntie made waffles and her famous super fluffy scrambled eggs.”
Paco makes a straight shot for the eggs and mi Madre smacks his hand with a wooden spoon.
"No, no, no, Paco, you must wait for mijo to get his plate first."
Mi Madre looks to me and hands me a plate with a smile.
"For you, mijo."
"Ah, thanks madre."
"Your estupido primo here, knows you get yours first, don't let him fool you."
"Nah, mah, Paco was just testing you, that's all."
We both laugh and Paco stands behind me tapping his foot.
"Ha ha, very funny, cuz… But can you please get yours? I'm wasting away here."
I give Paco an, are you serious? look.
"You've got to be kidding me, cuz… You could skip a few meals if I'm being honest with you."
Mi Madre doesn't skip a beat as she pokes Paco in the stomach like a Mexican dough boy, but he does woohoo or ay caramba.
"Not funny, Auntie, I've been working out at the gym with Lazo…"
I can't control my laughter.
"Working out? Is that what you call collecting the towels from the women in the gym?"
"Hey, someone's gotta do it…"
"Nah, they don't, primo, that's why they make laundry baskets…"
Primo gets a little worked up to defend himself.
"Hey, I can't help it that the ladies can't keep sweaty hands off of me and if you need me to stand at ring side against Serenity, I'll gladly make the sacrifice, cuz."
"Heh, I'm sure you would, but something tells me, you're not her type, cuz. She needs a strong hombre to keep her 22nd Century Girl, ass in check. She's running all over the place in Action Wrestling, making demands at every turn… If she had a real hombre to help her get her head right, then maybe she'd achieve her over ambitious goals…"
"Eh, what about this participation trophy match that Bunga has put you two in this week?"
I uncontrollably grumble.
"You know I don't believe in rewards handed to those who didn't deserve it, so why would I be thrilled that Serenity will be gifted a cruiserweight title match against Teo when I beat her? It should be, winner takes all!"
Mi Madre pats my left cheek as she looks up at me.
"Don't be so rude, mijo, you know you're capable in the ring and you don't have to tear down Izzy's favorite wrestler to make people believe you're better than her. Embrace her as a competitor and then you can prove it in the ring that you're destined for more."
Mija looks over to me with her doe like brown eyes.
"Gee Gee's right, Poppy… Serenity is fighting for all of her 22nd Century Girls and I'm happy that Bunga made this match for you two. I don't have to choose who I want to win, it's GREAT!"
Serenity has brainwashed mi mija…
"Yeah, heh, you're right, mija…"
Mi Madre looks up to me softly.
"It wasn't too long ago when you were cheering for Supa Lucha against your padre…"
… damn…
"But, madre… Supa Lucha was a Latino super hero, how was I not gonna cheer for him?"
I look to Izzy and then to madre.
"I get it, Izzy sees Serenity as a super hero too, huh?"
"You understand your daughter better than most, mijo…"
Tito Sal chimes in, because he's good at putting his two cents in, when no one asks for it.
"Serenity isn't a role model dressed the way she does and Supa Lucha was an even worse role model! That estupido did more coke than Action Wrestling's Zombie McMorris and that's saying something, nephew."
"You're just jealous of Serenity, SAL!"
Mija blows up on Salvador and before I know it, eggs are in Sal's lap and his face is 10 shades of red as a slew of Spanish curse words come out of his mouth.
"Izzy!"
Izzy stands up and defiantly rushes past me to her room, slamming the door behind her. Paco looks at me, worried.
"I'll go check on her, cuz."
Paco walks down the hall and I'm left staring at Sal wiping his lap off and mi Madre trying not to laugh.
"What's so funny, madre?"
"You won't believe me, but I swear that something like this happened with your Poppy and you, when you were her age…"
"I respected my elders, madre…"
I look to Sal.
"I'm sorry, Tito…"
"You need to ship her off to a flipping NUNNERY, I TELL YOU!"
Madre waves Salvador off and she returns her attention back to me.
"Mijo, don't believe that your mija sees Serenity as a hero more than she sees you as one. This Serenity girl just has the ability to show your mija a path that she can see herself taking, that's all. You're a man fighting in a man's world, it's an easier path for you, but your mija is a smart Nina and she knows Serenity is a fighter as well… So, do her a favor and go out there and show her that a girl can stand toe to toe, even with her fierce highly competitive father… Then go off and take that next step toward your El Dorado, because your path continues either way remember?"
"Serenity is accomplished and I can see what you're saying about her fighting to be where she is… But it's hard to see Izzy not standing firmly in my corner, is all. Ever since her Madre left, you know I've done nothing but fight tooth and nail in my own right to reach Action Wrestling to provide for her…"
"And she knows that, mijo."
"This Road to El Dorado isn't just a fancy tag line for me… It's a real path to my own accomplishment and my way of fulfilling poppy's dream for me… I've made it past sleazy promoters wanting me to play a dirty Mexican trying to cheat to win and showing off my love for chicas in lowriders…"
"Don't let your primo hear you speak of that, because you know he'd get a couple of those things for your next match."
Mi Madre actually laughs out loud at her comment and my head droops down.
"I'm working hard, madre, you know that right?"
"Oh, mijo, I know how hard you're working and so doesn't your mija. Your padre would be soooo proud of the man you've become too."
"I don't know, madre, there's some days that it is hard to see it, is all…"
Madre grabs my face softly.
"The one thing I know he would tell you…"
I give an inquisitive look.
"Don't hesitate… Don't let up and just keep driving, mijo."
"Just keep driving?"
"Your father spent too many years in the states trying to be more than what he was destined for… If he was in your shoes, he'd be happy to be gifted the cruiserweight title match… But YOU are different. He'd want you to drive to that bigger prize, don't rest on Serenity. Drive the hardest you can and let the cards fall where they may. You talk of your Road to El Dorado and it is high time you bring bring to reality, mijo. Show the world and show this Action Wrestling that this is your DESTINY."
She's right…
"Thank you, madre… I needed that more than you know… I live with one quote in mind… La victoria es para el destinado… The VICTORY goes to the DESTINED… I will make my DESTINY a reality even if it kills me!"
Paco is right, and that pains me to say, but the match was a BLINK and you’ll miss it kind of showing. I was embarrassed for the likes of Freya and the professional choke artist, Alex Marley.
