CJ Phoenix and Holden Ross like this

**--The scene opens up walking down the streets of a city – a quaint beautiful city that looks rich in history. The camera pans around and looks at all of the historical buildings with taller skyscrapers in the background. The camera pans around a little further with Jonny Cedrone and Tony Malato walking the sidewalk.--**
“So how’d you do Monday night?”
“I won the first match but lost in the finals.”
“Damn Jonny. I’m sorry. Better luck next time.”
“I’ve been pissed off about it but the silver lining is that I did better this time than I did last time. At least I got a win this time.”
“One win this time. The whole thing next time. Good outlook!”
“How’s your week been?”
“Good. Real good actually! Oh! Before I forget!”
**--Tony reaches into the inside breast pocket of his suit jacket and grabs an envelope of money and hands it to Jonny who puts it into his own inside breast pocket.--**
“Given how my career’s been going the past few years, I honestly don’t know why you or anyone would want my help with anything. Since getting back into the wrestling business, I’ve won one Championship and that was the Hardcore Title and I had it for a short time.”
“You’re still one of the best this business has to offer though Jonny.”
“Sometimes I agree with that. Lately though not so much.”
“Things’ll look up Boss.”
“One can only hope. It’s hell on the psyche.”
**--The scene fades to black. It fades back in as we see a female dressed in her nurse garb getting into her car. She fires up the engine and does some miniscule adjustments to the mirrors before backing out of her driveway. Once on the road she surfs through the radio stations but stops on a sultry voice.--**
“Good evening Lovies! This is your girl Sara and it’s that time we all look forward to – at least I know I do – when we get to pour our wine, cuddle up good and tight and whisper sweet nothings in each other’s ears. So c’mon, get those glasses full…if you’re driving or working y’all be careful out there! God bless ya! In fact…”
**--There’s a pause in audio then you hear Sara give a satisfied “Aaaah”--**
“That was a swig for the workin’ men and women out there! All of the rest of you Lovies come and get comfy with me Under the Sheets. I’m waitin’ for ya! C’mon guys and gals, I’m lonely and need some lovin’. Give me a call!”
**--There’s a bit of a silence--**
“This is Under the Sheets with Sara! Talk to me baby.”
“Hi Sara.”
“JONNY! How are you sweetheart?! How’s Gloria?!”
“We’re good! She just asked me the other day when you were coming out to visit us.”
“I promise I’ll meet up with y’all sooner than later! What’s happening doll?! To what do we owe this pleasure?”
“Gloria brought you up the other day so I got to thinkin’ about ya and wanted to catch up with ya. We listen to your show every night it’s on. We love you!”
“Awwww! I love y’all too honey! How’s wrestling going? World Champion yet?”
“Not yet.”
“Aw. You’ll get there babe. You always do!”
“Well thank you sweetheart! Just last week I had another shot at winning the Pure Cup that AW has. It’s a three match tournament. Win two, you win the Cup. Lose one and you’re done.”
“From the sound of your voice you didn’t win.”
“Won one match, lost the final.”
“Aw! That’s an improvement from the last time isn’t it?”
“It is! But still kinda disheartening. A lot of time I have doubts in my ability and feel that I’m not meant for this business anymore.”
“Jonny honey you are one of the best wrestlers alive today! Don’t let any stumbles along your journey deter you from fulfilling your destiny. You’re destined for World Championships! You are absolutely World Championship caliber talent without question! Just don’t let the bad blind you from the good honey! You’re too good for that!”
“Well thank you babe.”
“Anytime! So Monday’s coming up. Tell all of my Lovies what you got going on Monday night.”
“I’m facing Joey Scala. A real scrappy guy from Yonkers, New York. Another guy from the “mean streets” that has gotten into fights so bad that he almost died. He’s a badass. He’s gonna smoke my ass. Yadda. Yadda. Yadda. Same ol’ song and dance to be honest. If I had a dime for every person that I’ve faced in this company who think they’re a hard ass because they “survived the streets” I’d be able to pay off the national debt.”
“You almost sound bored honey.”
“Eh. I don’t know if I’m bored or if…okay I guess maybe I am. First and foremost I’m a wrestler. I thrive on putting my wrestling abilities on full-display and stealing the show with my matches. It seems like everyone in the company are fighters. They’d rather go in there and throw punches and beatdown their opponents instead of being the showstopper. I hate to sound like an old guy but…I dunno. I miss the days when we all had pride in our work and competed with one another and wanted to put on the best match on the card. Nowadays it seems like they’re just out there to beat the shit outta one another. And I’m not really saying there’s anything particularly wrong with that. Different strokes for different folks. As you know I have a past that supports that style. I just have a different mindset for what this sport is all about I guess.”
“That sounds like a lot to deal with hon. Sometimes the style clashes are fun to watch too though.”
“Oh they definitely are! And they can be fun to participate in too. I dunno. Sometimes I just think that this business has passed me by with how much it’s constantly evolving.”
“You’ll find a way to change with it babe. I love you and have all the faith in the world in you!”
“Thank you so much sweetheart. That means a lot to me! More than you know! I have to get off here and get to training for the match. I guess I’ll go pick a fight with a gang member on the street or something.”
“Don’t do all that! You’ll die! Be smart about it Love.”
“You know it honey. It’s been a pleasure my dear. Love you!”
“Love you too and send my love to Gloria!”
“Absolutely! Goodnight!”
“Goodnight!”
**--The scene fades to black then cuts back in with Jonny walking down the streets again, this time alone.--**
“So close yet so far away. Then again “close” only counts in Horseshoes and hand grenades doesn’t it?”
“Last week I defeated Void but lost to Elijah Martin. Both men gave me their all. Action Wrestling has some of the fiercest competition that I’ve ever seen in my career. Every single person that steps into that ring is hungry and will do anything and everything they have to do in order to succeed here.”
“Congratulations are definitely in order for Elijah for the win. He truly deserved it! Don’t think you’ve seen the end of me though Elijah. Both of us have a bright future here in Action Wrestling so we’re bound to run into each other again.”
“In the meantime I have another obstacle standing in my way. This Monday I’m facing Joey Scala. Another “man of the streets”. Another guy that had to fight to survive. Another guy that looked Death in the eyes, didn’t back down and lived to tell about it.”
“I’m sure he’s hyped up to take some frustration out on me or something. He has his issues with Holden Ross at the moment. A man that I’ve been in the trenches with in the past myself. He’s no pushover Joe. I mean you should know that more than anybody. I shouldn’t have to tell you that. I’m sure you think I am though. I’m sure you look at me as just something thrown in your way before you’re able to get your hands on Ross again. And that’s fine. You don’t have to view me as some kind of threat or anything. You’re laser focused on Holden Ross so bad that nothing can faze you.”
“That’s alright though Joe. You keep your mind focused on Ross. You keep thinking that I’m some kind of pushover. That’ll make this win over you feel that much sweeter. I know that I’m not exactly sitting on top of the world at the moment. I know that I had the Hardcore Title but lost it. I’m sure I’m viewed as some kinda fluke. And I can honestly understand that. If I weren’t me, I’d probably feel the same way. Everybody thinks that I don’t have what it takes to get the job done anymore. They think that I don’t belong here in Action Wrestling. While it’s true that my style is a little different than that of at least 90% of the roster – if not more – that doesn’t mean that I can’t hold my own in the company. That doesn’t mean that I can’t bring the fight.”
“You see my style is more of a wrestling style. I’d rather wear you down with wrestling holds. I’d rather beat you with my speed, my intelligence, my skills but that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been in the trenches before. I’ve thrown punches when necessary during my career. I’ve been in knock-down, drag-out fights both in and outta the ring. I’m NOT afraid to fight! So don’t think that you’re superior to me in any way Joe. You’re not.”
“The problem with this match is that we each have our eyes on something else. You have your crosshairs set on Holden, I have mine set on moving up in the ranks and becoming the World Champion. The fact of the matter remains though, we have to stay focused on the task at hand. Er…well…at least I do. You can focus on whatever you wanna focus on – that’ll make this match that much easier.”
“Mr. Scala, while I respect your background, your past and your ability to win the big fights, I have to let you know that I’m not the same Jonny Cedrone. I’m not the same “lovable loser” Jonny Cedrone. I’m focused on moving up. I’m focused on doing my own thing. And honestly, given my track record so far here in Action Wrestling I’m quite pissed off! You just happen to be standing across the ring from me this Monday. You’re a victim of circumstance and I’m not gonna take it easy on ya.”
“Look at yourself and how pissed off you are at Holden…I’m probably 10x worse. I don’t know how I’m gonna take it out on ya. I don’t know if I’m gonna make it solely a fight or if I’m gonna make you fight my style. Either way I’m getting this win Monday night and there’s not a damn thing you can do about it!”
“I still wish ya the best of luck…you’re gonna need it!”
**--The scene fades to black as Jony walks off screen--**
“So how’d you do Monday night?”
“I won the first match but lost in the finals.”
