Holden greets his lawyer, friend, and now former manager, Mike "Grimmy" Grimm with a hug. He is like an uncle to Holden and has overseen his career up until he signed with C.C.P.E.; a move that truly upset Grimmy and Holden was expecting that. Grimmy was flying down to Miami for vacation and when Holden found out, he invited him over for dinner. Serenity is off on an errand and will arrive later to meet such an important member of Holden's life. Holden leads him to the living room where the scent of Nag Champa hangs in the air along with a bank of smoke, some from the insence but most of it not.
Grimmy takes a seat in an oversized chair while Holden sits on the couch to Grimmy's right. Holden offers Grimmy a large blunt, about the same diameter as a quarter and nearly eight inches long. Grimmy takes it and uses a match to fire it up. They spend time catching up and smoking, nearly an hour passes in the blink of an eye, before they address the elephant in the room. Grimmy takes a long pull from the blunt before leaning his head back on the cushion of the chair, staring at the ceiling and making smoke rings.
"So, you replaced me as your manager, eh?" He turns his attention to Holden and daggers are waiting in his eyes. "And you notified me through an email of all ways."
Holden takes a couple of small puffs, back-to-back, and nods his head slightly. "I tried to call but you never answered. I didn't want to do it in a voicemail so I sent ya the email. You're still my lawyer and still makin plenty of money."
Grimmy sighs as one of his meaty paws he calls hands wipes his face. See, Grimmy is six-five and weighs close to four-fifty. He is a big guy with a full beard and he often wears Hawaiian button ups when he isnt in court. He gives his head a quick shake and sighs again. "I don't care about money, Holden. The only reason I'm not retired is because of working for you, I love doing it. I'm just doing what Frank asked me to do; look out for you."
Holden nods. "I know you are but you gotta trust me on this. Ever since Page took over as my promoter my bookings have tripled, if not more! Not to mention that small movie role... I know you got me the deals with 'Monster' and 'Born Scum,' and you got me that gig on the 'Mayans,' but this is even bigger. Dad would have told me to do it..."
Grimmy is stunned and his face shows it. "He would have killed to hear you call him that. Now you call him 'Dad?'" he scoffs.
"My mom lied to me when I was a kid. I didn't even know who Frank was, aside from on tee-vee, until about a decade ago. I listened to all her stories and, even after I found out who he was, she told me she had contacted him and he wanted nothing to do with me. What was I supposed to do? After he died I learned the truth and have't talked to my mom since."
The front door opens and Serenity enters carrying a couple of bags filled with groceries. She can feel the tension and sees the almost.....relief, is it? Relief on his face when he stands and takes the bags off of her hands. Grimmy stands and gives her a smile.
"You must be the famous Serenity. I never thought someone would get him to settle down."
"Babe, this is Grimmy. Grimmy, yes, this is Serenity."
"Pleased to meet you, Grimmy. You are staying for dinner, right?" she asks with a smile.
"I would love to...."
Later, at the "Champions Advantage Performance Center.""
Holden is shown seated on a folding chair in front of a large banner advertiseing for new students at the Performance Center. He is seated on a folding chair, in a pair of cut-off sweats and a "Misfits" t-shirt, minus the sleeves. He has a pair of black and white Chucks on his feet and his fists are wrapped in heavy, black tape. His hair is slicked back and soaking wet and sweat drips down his face. He chugs a bottle of water and tosses the empty to his left, off camera.
"I know a majority of you have no clue who I am and could give two fucks, really. But one man apparently does; Mister Matt Knox. To be honest, I only really know him from his Twitter posts and have rearely interacted with him on there. I saw some of the shenanigans that occured lately between Knox and Page and was surprised when Knox challenged me. Coulda knocked me over with a feather when He said He was putting a belt on the line. And I get why He challenged me.....I am seen as a minor threat."
Holden rises to his feet and stretches, his joints popping like corn in a pan over high head. He lets out first a groan and then a sigh before continuing. "I'm not going to be an example or a walk in the park, Matt. I am the 'Striking Coach' here at the 'Champions Advantage Performance Center' here in Vero Beach for a reason. I am also well aware of your background too, Matt. I know full well that you are going to be a challenge the likes I have never confronted. I'll be seein you soon, Matt...."
The camera fades out as he walks off to the left. You can hear him laughing to himself as he walks off.
