Johnny Bacchus and Ash Blake like this
Post by Jonny Cedrone on Mar 19, 2022 13:32:12 GMT -5
**--The scene opens up once again inside the home office of Jonny Cedrone. We see a still banged up Jonny sitting at his desk re-watching his Hardcore Title match at Battlebowl against Ash Blake. His wife is there with a loving arm of support wrapped around her husband’s shoulders when there’s a knock on the door.--**
“Come in!”
**--After a few moments, into the camera shot walks their lovable butler William Ellingsworth. William sees the distraught look on Jonny’s face--**
“My word! What happened sir?! You look as if there may have been a death in the family!”
“I’m feeling a little defeated William.”
“By the looks of it sir, you bloody look a lot defeated! And I use the word ‘bloody’ quite literally. You have stitches in places that people just shouldn’t need stitches. Your back looks like somebody took a cheese grater to it. You’ve lost more blood than a normal person even has in their body. You’re a train wreck sir!”
“Thanks for the words of confidence William. I knew I could count on you!”
“Anytime! That’s what I’m here for sir!”
**--Jonny goes back to confiding in Gloria--**
“I thought I had her. I almost had her beat. Then she pulled out her last bit of tricks up her sleeve and beat me.”
“Honey, you gave it everything you could. You poured your heart….”
“…and blood…”
“…into that fight. You may have come up short of a win but you didn’t come up short with spirit and determination. You never gave up baby! That’s one of the reasons why I fell so madly in love with you!”
**--Jonny looks lovingly into Gloria’s eyes, puts his hand on her hand which is resting on his shoulder and gently leans his head against hers--**
“Would you mind if I ask you a question sir?”
“You can’t get the afternoon off today William.”
“Heavens no! That’s not what I was going to ask at all sir! I wouldn’t dream of leaving you in your time of need!”
“What’s your question William?”
“All of this reminds me of something that I just watched for the first time recently. One hell of a movie!”
“Why do we fall sir?”
**--Jonny sports a bit of a grin of inspiration--**
“So we can learn to pick ourselves up!”
**--William looks confused--**
“Bloody hell! No! We fall when we attempt at something and fail so epically hard!”
**--What fleeting glimmer of hope that began to fill Jonny’s broken heart disappeared as quickly as it came. He once again looks dejected.--**
“You can’t expect to put yourself out there, lay your entire self on the line and always expect things to go your way sir! Especially with someone as ferocious as Miss Blake! No matter who she faces and no matter what’s at stake, she’s determined to keep what she has in her possession. You want her Hardcore Title? You’re probably gonna have to killer her to get it! And now that she’s the last entrant in that Havoc battle royal, she has aspirations to become World Champion once again. And if you think that she won’t achieve that goal, you’ve taken way too many headshots!”
“You know me well sir. You know that I would never say something just to ‘blow smoke up your shorts’ as you bloody Americans say. In my heart of hearts, I believe that you were in over your head. And to paint with an even broader stroke, I think the entire locker room is in over their heads in regards to Miss Blake. Her hunger; her fire; her determination; her need to win; her dedication; her willingness to do whatever it takes to keep what she has and to get what she wants…they all burn hotter and brighter than anyone else in the company sir – yourself included.”
“Now I’m not saying that you did a terrible job with keeping up with her at Battlebowl. You did. You should be proud of yourself for what you did! Throughout this entire feud so far you have held your own against her. If you’ve noticed, right before she gets the win on you she has to get that unfortunate upper hand on you sir. She has to lower herself to some dastardly levels to get that advantage but she does it and she gets the win because of it – whatever is necessary. You give it everything you have sir, each time you go out there, even against Miss Blake…but your morals just won’t let you get down and dirty with her sir. You do your absolute best to get the job done without ‘stooping to her level’ but in the end, it’s her willingness to get that low and dirty that has gotten her those wins against you sir.”
“So she was right in asking you: how bad do you really want it sir?”
**--Jonny and Gloria have been looking on and listening intently. Once William finishes Jonny asks him a question.--**
“How do you know so much about what’s going on in AW?”
“Simple. I gotta have SOME kind of reading material when I go to the restroom!”
**--With that William walks off camera leaving Jonny and Gloria sitting there in amazement of what they just heard from William. The scene fades to black. The scene fades back in with the setting changing to outside. Springfield Park with an abundant amount of sunshine, people walking the paths. Dogs playing. Jonny Cedrone sitting on a bench looking towards the west end of downtown Jacksonville. We get a close up on Jonny just as he stands and starts relaxingly walk. He begins to speak.--**
“They say that a change of scenery can do a lot of good for a person. Gets your mind straight.”
“Battlebowl didn’t go nearly as well as planned or even as hoped. Ash Blake and I gave each other everything we had. We went to war! Ultimately she retained then moved on and proved my point of her being one of the best this business has to offer by going on and winning the Battlebowl tournament and becoming the final entrant in the Havoc battle royal.”
“Which leaves me to question what’s next for me. Ash and I have been doing this dance pretty much since I came into Action Wrestling.”
“But you know what they say; a change of scenery can do a lot of good for a person.”
“So what could I possibly do – where can I possibly go from here? Well the thing of it is that I’ve built my career on being the best technical wrestler in the business. Despite the outcome of my matches, I made it my personal goal to have the greatest match on the card each and every time. I did what I had to do to make sure the fans went home happy, knowing that they got their money’s worth when they came to watch a Jonny Cedrone match!”
“In failure we learn lessons that will last a lifetime. ‘Success isn’t final. Failure isn’t fatal. It’s the courage to continue that counts.’ As you know, I’ve failed plenty of times in my career and every time I’ve stood across from Ash Blake. I took something from each loss against Ash. I learned something from each loss. But I’m human and I make mistakes. With Ash being the consummate fighter, she took advantage of those mistakes and made the most of it.”
“It’s time to take those lessons and move on. In the most prestigious wrestling company in the business, there’s a thing called the Pure Cup Tournament. On March 21st I get the opportunity to qualify for this tournament. A one night tournament to showcase one’s will, one’s wrestling abilities, one’s fighting abilities. It’s a tournament that measures one’s tenacity; one’s inability to give up; one’s desire to keep pressing on.”
“On March 21st I face, for the first time, a man by the name of Cousin Harper. Now Cousin Harper, I must admit, I don’t know a whole lot about you. I know that you have strong ties with The Heritage but outside of that, I only know that you’re a big brute that loves to throw your size and weight around. That’s not something that you’re going to be able to do with me. You may be 6’ 6” but I’m not that much shorter than you. My background in wrestling and fighting and my ability to adapt will prove my superiority to you in this match. I’m taking all of those pains of losses and I’m gonna take them out on you Monday night. I’m taking every lesson I’ve learned in this series of fights with Ash and I’m gonna qualify for the tournament then go on and win it all!”
“That desire is burning hard and bright within me Cousin Harper! Unfortunately for you, you’re just the first victim of many to feel the burn!”
