Vaughn Ranch, Winslow Arizona.
Inside one of the barns, a blonde woman her haired styled in a braided ponytail is stacking bales of hay. She stacked the last one and sat down and takes a drink as an older woman entered.
Catherine: You hate doing this don’t you.
Nikola: Everyone probably thinks that, but hard work never killed anyone, honestly I don’t mind helping you and dad out when I can.
Catherine: Makes for a great life story.
Nikola: No one cares about my life story, mom, you know what people think of me.
Catherine: You’ve built a public persona, that everyone thinks is the real you, and I admit I do enjoy how easily you can get under a person’s skin with simply your words or your actions.
Nikola: Yeah, I honestly don’t care if people like me or not, people are easily led, Karlie and I are great at drawing reactions from people.
Catherine: How is Karlie, she must be feeling down after Battlebowl.
Nikola: I know Karlie better than anyone she’ll be fine, she texted earlier and said she’ll meet me in Jacksonville.
Nikola’s father Xavier enters the barn.
Xavier: All done I see.
Nikola: Yes, dad, and I could use a shower and a glass of wine in that order.
Xavier: Sure, your mom and I appreciate the help.
Nikola: Really, I don’t mind.
Xavier: Okay, your mom and I will leave you to finish up.
They leave and Nikola sweeps the floor of the barn.
Several hours later Nikola’s jeep speeds down a dusty back road on the vast Vaughn ranch, she stops at a small house and steps out of the jeep, reaching into the passenger's seat, grabbing the bag of groceries, and her cowboy hat, the door creeks as she pushed it open.
I’ll have to get that fixed.
She steps inside and flips on the light.
Just how I left it.
The house is decorated to reflect Nikola’s lavish lifestyle.
Be it ever so humble.
She smiles and hangs her hat on the rack and the groceries on the table then walks towards the bathroom.
Nikola is sitting in her leather chair, holding a glass of red wine.
You know what separates me from people like you Serenity, everything I've done and everything I’ve achieved I've done it through hard work and dedication. I didn’t have a famous daddy to open all my doors for me, unlike you.
Nikola takes a sip of wine.
My dad didn’t help me become a high school all American in Arizona, to garner a full scholarship to the university of Minnesota, or become an Olympic hockey champion, and multi time hall of famer, and half of arguably the greatest tag team in Action Wrestling history.
I didn’t train under the tutelage of a famous wrestling father, I trained under two ornery S.O.B's in Saskatchewan and under my future tag team partner, you know her name by now.
Serenity, while it was your father’s name that got you through the door of Action wrestling, I’ll give you credit, you won a single title before me, but then again I wasn’t given a chance to win the title, or was even considered when Joey Bunga resurrected the title, out of jealousy of how good I am and how much prestige I would bring to the title.
Serenity, you’ve never faced anyone like me, someone who can out strike you, who can out grapple you, you can take you down to the mat and never allow you to get back up, I can knock you out or tap you, your famous wrestler daddy won't be able to help you beat me
Serenity when the bells ring this week, it will single the end of your little run on Cruiserclash and Red, White and Bruised will have the single’s title that has eluded us for far too long, I’ll carry the mantle as Women’s champion and take it to the heights and prestige it deserves, I know you’ll be disappointed that your run is over, and I’ll drink a cup of your tears, as the new Women’s champion.
