Corey Black sits alone in an empty room. The walls are a drab, dull green, wallpaper peeling off to reveal a gray drywall. No windows, no decoration, just a single solitary chair and a man sitting there. The light overhead is devoid of protection, just a single lightbulb protruding from a hole in the ceiling and it flickers every couple of seconds. Corey sits with one leg splayed out further than the other, black Chuck Taylors, khaki joggers and a red Slayer t-shirt. He licks his teeth, rubbing both eyes with one hand and sitting forward to look dead into the camera. "It's the most classic trope. Take your big multi-person main event match and make yourself a tag match, playa, why not add in another champion for the fun of it? I've seen it done a million times and I've had it done to myself about half as many. Standing side by side with ... ugh ... Affluenza isn't my ideal Monday night. But standing across the ring from all the others? That's my kind of party. That's what gets me going. I've been all around this world and I can say, without a doubt, Action Wrestling has the highest level of competition - this match features just a fraction. You've got the US Champion CJ Phoenix, a man that has finally - truly - found his footing in pro wrestling and he's a force to be reckoned with. There's Jill Park and Regan Voorhees.. Regan conquered Cruiserclash and Wrestler of the Year basically without even running into much of a problem, Jill started at the bottom and everyone dismissed her as some reality show The Challenge on MTV dork. She proved everyone wrong and since joining up with Regan has become even more formidable. You have Carter Shaw, former World Champion, a guy that used his former associates to solidify his own name in the record books and now without them.. who is he? Is he back to being the scrappy underdog? Maybe in his mind, but for my money - he's still a fuckin' rat. There's Johnny Bacchus, a triumphant return and thrust where he would have been had he stuck around, the main event. His personal life, questionable. A distraction. A personal stake through the heart. And Vaguard, Action Wrestling Tag Team Champions - Downfall sticking with his buddy Dion through thick and thin, Titles and losses. A couple of wandering souls, not unlike Affluenza, whom found home at each other's side. Crutches. With Grindhouse on the outside, Dandy and Gerard as refs - I see exactly how this is going to go. And I've got elbows and Burning Hammers for the whole fucking lot. I'm the guy that just sent RBD back to the backyard in a full body cast. I'm the guy that, frankly, is the most in-demand professional wrestler on this entire planet. I'm ready for everything. I'm ready for anything. I'm ready to burn this whole thing to the ground to get to what is mind. The Action Wrestling World Heavyweight Championship. Casino Night may be a week away, but on Clash.. I'm going to show you all who you should always bet on." |
