Hi there folks, it’s narrator here today with what is a special occasion - a press conference with the Two Gents! Not just a press conference either, but a press conference where they talk about each other. After all your intrepid heroes have been, by Joey Bunga’s decree, told they are facing one another for the Cruiserweight title on Monday night! How exciting!
Well, let’s go straight to Andre, who’s been asked by some reporter whether this will force a wedge into the relationship between the two globally renowned superstars.
Jenson, sitting at the desk with a DM board in front of him and a bunch of D&D books scattered about (he hadn’t been told this was a press conference, he assumed they were going to do a D&D campaign. After all he was in a room with Teo and there was a desk, so either they’re playing D&D or someone is going through it.
He rolls a dice, presumably to figure out his answer. He thinks for a moment and re-rolls, writing something on a sheet of paper.
“No” He says.
“No? That’s all, no elaboration?”
He looks at the reporter, follows the same procedure and about 30 seconds later responds.
“No, it won’t.” He says.
Another reporter stands, the original sitting down contemplating life. “So you’re not worried at all about your relationship being affected if either of you win?”
Again, the same procedure. Teo to his credit is watching on in amusement. He knows what’s up, they’re in on it together. This time, however, Jenson is a little more satisfied with the dice roll. He looks up and grins.
“Natural 20.” He shows the dice to the ultra serious reporters, the only other person to laugh in the room is Teo. “I’m not worried, no. You see the man to the side of me is my partner, he’s my equal. He’s my brother, my fam, the guy who I can depend on with my life and who I would die to protect, so no. No amount of shenanigans that Joey Bunga throw at us will stop us from being a team.”
“But naturally, facing him in combat should strain that, no? Especially with what’s at stake?”
“What’s at stake?” Jenson quizzes. “We’re still going to be champions at the end of this, whether it’s me or Teo it doesn’t really matter does it? The Two gents sit at the top of the table, we main event the biggest shows of them all and we always enhance whatever division we find ourselves in as a team. The appropriate question would have been “What do you think of having to fight against, rather than alongside your friend to see which one of you gets to wear the belt as we only have one of them, rather than the two we usually have?”
The answer to that is… Teo and I know that being a champion is more than just defending it against enemies. We know that it’s sometimes about opportunity, to give other people an opportunity to test themselves against the best of the best and to cement their legacy. That’s all this is, an opportunity. You see, some people in this industry see me as Teo’s shadow. Hell even some people in management just assume I don’t exist, you saw that nonsense at Revolution. I was booked for the match, got prepped, turned up at the arena and I was allocated a dressing room in the car park. Then I didn’t get a call for the match and was just forgotten about.
This opportunity is a chance to put all of that aside. I’ve said for a while now that we are equals, we always have been and always will be. United we’re unstoppable right? Part of that is not only because we’re great together and work seamlessly as one, but the other part of it is because we’re really good at what we do as individuals. We’re the same, and on CruiserClash that’s what my goal is, to go out there and prove it. When it’s over and I hold the title for the Two Gents, Management might even let me move into the building’s dressing room.
