Karlie Nash, Downfall, and 2 more like this

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." No truer quote has ever represented who I am as a competitor more than that one. Its always been the same story with me; every opportunity has been hit with a stumbling block; every opening, closed. Success, at long last, bloomed in the last year, as I began to take my place in the upper echelons of nearly every federation I took part in. The fruits of opportunity were beginning to bloom, and success was ripe for the picking...for those willing to pick from the vine. Don't get me wrong; I never wanted to instantly meteor my way to the top; I enjoy the chase, the climb, the struggle a hell of a lot more than a quick rise and a faster fall. So I waited patiently, biding my time, waiting for the right opportunity to make my case. And thus, at the end of this past year, I declared the year of 2022 "The Year of Wine and Roses." The year of my rise to the top, with my ultimate goal to become world champion. And it wouldn't be Action Wrestling if they didn't decide to overlook me yet again for other chances to shine. So here I am, in a battle royal near the opening of the card. Am I disappointed? Am I going to just throw the match in a tirade to show management just how big a mistake it was? ...Of course not. I could go the route of many that would see this as an "insult," but it goes so much further than that. This is an opportunity. An opportunity for John Black and Kyrie King to dust themselves off and show their fight once again. An opportunity for Jayson Price to show the rookies in this match just what he has left in the tank...if anything. An opportunity for Dark Kent to...to...okay, I'll admit, I don't know what the fuck Dark Kent will want to do. An opportunity for a returning Bolas de Arana to rekindle his spark...and also not be referred to as "spider balls" backstage. An opportunity for Romeo Finet, Jessica Cannon, and Alice Gemini to show us more of what they're made of. An opportunity for Andre Jenson to, like me, prove that he is more than just a tag champion. And an opportunity for Karlie Nash to- You know what? I really don't care what kind of opportunity it is for Karlie Nash. Because I know for a fact that she's in here because management had nothing else for her. Must really burn her up knowing that Void has a shot at reclaiming the Cruiserweight Title and she's nowhere to be seen in the mix. A decorated champion like Karlie, denied like this?! Given her track record, its really not that much of a surprise. After all, she usually spends most of her time talking smack about whatever town she's in before underestimating her opponents and losing, only to return to her compound out in the boonies for a quick pity "service" and leaving to repeat the cycle once more. She could probably claim an olympic gold in setting too high of expectations for herself. Imagine it; Karlie Nash, Olympian and jobber to the stars. I did some quick math. The Vanguard is currently 153 days into our tag title reign. Three times as many days as RWB's run, and twice as many days as all three of their Cruiserweight tag runs combined. But surely, these numbers don't matter all that much, right? After all, it takes more than one person to make a tag team. But to be quite honest, whenever I've seen both you and Nikki compete, I have a hard time telling who is carrying who. Maybe you're both just hobbled over, running out of steam? Or maybe the church has you more preoccupied, kneeling in service to receive his holy spirit...among whatever else your sex cult receives. But what do I, the man who declared this his year, get out of being in a match near the lower end of the card? Where is the opportunity for me, the man partnered with the world champion? Simple: I not only get to put the rumors of playing second fiddle to rest, I also get a chance to showcase what I can do in a match-up like this. A battle royal, multiple contenders needing to watch their own backs while taking out the competition around them? Its my playground. Its exactly my style. These matches are my warzone, where I have shown survivability as well as adaptability. It will be a taste of what is to come...at Havoc. But for now, that vintage is still fermenting. And this opportunity here? Its ripe for the picking. |
