I’ve risen to the highest mountains
I’ve sank to the darkest depths
I’ve held the golden goose
And found a lump of coal
Just because it is
Doesn’t mean it will always be
We don’t live in the past
And our scruples are only as defined as we allow them to be

Tatiana paced back and forth anxiously, the life of an ACTION WRESTLING Superstar was rarely one of idleness, that was especially true for the Television Champion. This was like a dream come true, and she felt the excitement and sense of wonderment of securing her first footnote in the history of a great federation.

ACTION WRESTLING Television Champion
ACTION WRESTLING Television Champion
That was a honor that nobody could ever take away from her
Even when the day comes and she loses the belt
She will always be a part of its history
And it, a part of hers

“Kyrie King… He’s a tough son of a gun. Big, strong, youthful, and eager to make his mark in the business…”
She spoke to herself in the privacy of her hotel room. California had been oh so very kind to her, and the spectre of her adopted hometown of Vancouver BC just up to the north was as close to a home field advantage that she was likely to get outside of Canada. Still, she knew Kyrie was as dangerous as he was boisterous. He took her to her limits in the Triple Threat and very nearly won the title for himself on more than one occasion.
“He has undeniable skill and an indomitable will to win, but he’s young and fairly inexperienced… At least when compared to someone like me”
She was old enough to know that experience, though important, was not the be-all-end-all in any situation. Yes, she had almost as much wrestling experience as he had years on this earth, and though she was hardly some old washed up dinosaur looking to make a few bucks before retiring. She also knew her extensive training and strenuous workout routine would be put to the test against a guy like King.
“He’s got me beaten easily in the size and strength category. We run at about the same speed. Though I may be slightly more agile due to my small size”

If only this were a 10k marathon race, she’d be the heavy favorite.
But it wasn’t…
No, this was a match, a fight, a battle
A duel of wits, tenacity, and most of all… Skill.

“His MMA background is an exciting prospect… Not too many are into the traditional style of wrestling. Most fly around, take the big risks, pop the fans… But us? We’re going to go out there on Clash and put on a technical clinic that will be as much about psychology as it is about physicality.”
She knew it would be hazardous to find herself on the mat, locked up in one of his numerous holds. His strength would benefit him in that situation, and her best defense would be that aforementioned experience. The counter holds and mat awareness were key.

But it works both ways, and you don’t have to be a hulking brute to torment an opponent.
It was all a matter of knowing where and how to apply the right amount of pressure to certain joints.
And she knew all the tricks that can make even the biggest and toughest of opponents cry for mercy and release.
That’s not to say she thinks Kyrie King was some sort of child.
Not even close
Not even close
If he was, then he wouldn’t be in ACTION WRESTLING.
Nor would he have come within a hair of winning the TV title a week ago.

“I have to win this match. It would be a terrible fall back down the ladder to be beaten in my very first defense. Literally all of my hard work to get back up off the floor after that wretched start would be erased if I fail to retain”
And though she did have the vaunted Champion’s Advantage.
She also had the pressure of proving herself worthy of the accolade.
A loss on her first defense would stain her with the label of Paper Champion.
“The pressure is on both of us. We both need this win as much as the other. But for very different reasons.”
She sighs and takes a seat at the foot of the bed, grabbing the Television Title Belt and pulling the heavy strap of precious metal into her lap. She gazes down into the polished face, pondering all these things.
“Some see the TV Title as a stepping stone towards greatness… And though it often is… I’m not as farsighted as some of my peers. We all want to find our name at the top of the marquee… To be the World Champion. But the perspective of the battle can sometimes be lost in the chase for glory”
There have been many greats to have held this championship before her. Greats that include the man she dethroned to become champion in the first place. Tatiana, as a veteran of over 20 years, was a student of the game. She knew what it took to get to the top, and how hard it was to stay once you were there.
She didn't take anything for granted, and always approached the next match with the ambition of her first, as well as the respect as if it were her last.

Being in the wrestling business was a privilege, not a right.
Being in the wrestling business was a privilege, not a right.
And if you respect your peers and the business, than you will be respected in return
Part of that respect was being able to compartmentalize who you are with what you want to be.

“The TV Title is the worker’s championship. And I intend on bringing this title to the top with me. To hold it up with the same pride as one would hold the World Title. That’s my vow… That’s my promise. That’s my goal”
