A video feed begins with Katherine Hastings sitting on a sofa. She feigns a smile as she looks into the camera feed; The English Rose appears nervous.
Katherine: Hello everyone. I have been afforded this time by Action Wrestling management to speak to you all ahead of what should be another fantastic CruiserHavoc on Wednesday night. I for one will be rooting for my girl, Aphriya.
A look of sadness now forms on her face.
Katherine: I had intended to enter the event myself, but unfortunately I have decided against participating for personal reasons. You see, I am over here in the United States living my dreams whilst my family remains back home in London. I don't think people realise how much we, as competitors, sacrifice to compete in this sport. My oldest brother was blessed earlier this year when his wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, my niece, Katie. Yet I still have not been able to meet her in person.
She clears her throat.
Katherine: Two nights ago, I received a deeply saddening phone call from my brother, Matthew, stating that Katie had become unwell. She has been diagnosed with a heart condition and requires open-heart surgery.
The English Rose pausesβ¦
Katherine: Because of this, I have made the decision to return home immediately to be with my family during this difficult period.
She adjusts her hair, sweeping it behind her ear.
Katherine: Despite living my best life here, in Action Wrestling, fighting alongside Zooey and Sam Kidsgrove as FORTITUDE, I need to go home. If anything happened to...
Katherineβs voice cracks as she can no longer hold back her tears. Zooey comes into the shot, comforting her friend. She passes Katherine a tissue and reassures her that she's doing the right thing. With her friend by her side, Katherine continues.
Katherine: If something happened to Katie, and I hadn't met her - I don't know how I could live with myself. So I will be flying to London, today. Torture has been kind enough to grant me indefinite paid leave whilst I'm away, thank you. I hope you understand how grateful I am for your support. And to Sam Kidsgrove - my dear friend. He has managed to get us in touch with the leading paediatric cardiac surgeon in England, and Katie is now under his care at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Whilst I'm away, I'll be cheering on my FORTITUDE teammates...

Katherine: I hope you all have a fantastic Holiday season, and that you all stay safe during the pandemic. This is not goodbye forever, just for a little while. FORTITUDE is strong, it stands united against pain and adversity - but this fight is one I must undertake out of the ring. I'll see you all real soon...
