Roddy Zalez and Doc Knockem stand in front of a bunch of factory workers moving back and forth, attempting to find themselves with the recent news of what exactly they will be working on.
“A fuckin bomb…we’re seriously doing this…”
That wasn’t a question to verify a fact. It was a statement to try and wrap his head around said fact.
Roddy only shrugs in response, his eyes hidden by his Raybans.
A muscled worker in a gray jumpsuit approaches them.
“Hey boss, we just got word back from the cops. It looks like they’re willing to give us a week pass, but once that week is up, they have to raid us.”
Roddy sighs, but nods towards the muscled worker. Said worker returns from whence he came.
“A week to build a bomb strong enough to blow up a high school built in Texas and then create a fire strong enough to make it look like arson…not exactly how I thought our first partnership with these guys would go.”
Doc takes off his Cowboy hat and pulls his left hand through his long hair.
“The Organization didn’t prepare us for this.”
Roddy doesn’t respond, letting his silence be enough of an answer for him.
Unfortunately, silence isn’t enough to get his next question answered, even if he’s pretty sure he and Doc are nearly at that point in their relationship.
“Hey Doc, where’s Kit?”
Right after asking the question, he gets an answer.
“Hello!” Kitsumi exclaims, appearing to Doc’s left.
Both Doc and Roddy jump, the latter collapsing into the railing while the former accidentally throws his hat down onto the factory floor.
“Shit.”
Doc leaves the two of his younger cohorts to go and retrieve his hat.
“Kit, must you do that every time?”
“Must you be a coward and leave the two of us to get beaten in the ring?”
This was asked with her serene, soft smile on her face.
Roddy makes a noise of affirmation in lieu of a proper answer.
“Still feeling cross about that, huh?”
Kitsumi just smiles.
Roddy shrugs, returning his eyes to the factory floor.
“The task will be completed by Saturday in time for your meeting with your teachers.”
“You mean the follow-up meeting?”
“Obviously. Apologies for not getting a fucking bomb ready in time, but you really showed your age in expecting that to be done by the weekend.”
Kitsumi makes her own noise of affirmation.
“How long do you have?”
“My mother is picking me up in ten minutes to take me to the airport.”
“More than enough time to discuss our big break.”
“Are you referring to us pinning the former Cruiserweight Champion or to getting the opportunity at the Tag Titles?”
“Take your pick, Kit, we’ll be going after both.”
“We certainly did impress them, didn’t we?”
“We certainly better have. We beat Paul Mall in his last match, including making him bleed like a warzone. We beat Terra Walker in her last match before losing her Cruiserweight Title to JC Keeton. And we also showed the world that those other tag teams who wanted a shot at those Tag Titles have no claim.”
“Would Karlie Nash and Nikki Vaughn have a claim?”
“Of course not. Nikki was literally injured in their last loss and Karlie only just got better herself. Why the fuck either of them are in this match in anybody’s guess. Probably that intern snorting coke or something and throwing a dart at the wall.”
“Failure seems to be a recurring thing for the two of them.”
“Not that we’d know. We showed up, dominated, and have already proven where our destinies lie.”
Kitsumi’s smile widens. Her eyes become unfocused, getting herself lost in a fantasy. Roddy turns his glance towards her.
“Don’t go all…staticy on me, but I have to ask. What do you see in that boy?”
“Kit.”
“He’s my everything.”
Roddy immediately regrets his decision with a grimace.
“He was there for me when I needed a friend. He’s been there for me when I needed somebody to comfort me and my own family wouldn’t suffice. I owe my life—”
“—what I’ve learned—”
“—and all my love to Him and Him alone.”
“Without Aisuru, I would be nothing. Without Aisuru, I wouldn’t be here. Without Aisuru, I wouldn’t want to be.”
Roddy scowls.
“That’s some…strong dedication there, Kit.”
Kitsumi turns to Roddy, her serene smile still on her face, but her right eye changing color.
“It is not even close to all that He deserves.”
Roddy turns his head back to the factory floor to avoid the gaze of that piercing left eye.
“Anyway…your bomb should be ready by your next meeting with the school’s staff on Saturday. Just make sure your mom is there and everything should go off without any hiccups.”
Kitsumi blinks and her eye returns to normal.
“Let’s just hope this plan works as well as your last one did.”
“Hey, we’ve got a shot at the Tag Titles and can go after JC and his fancy new main title, can’t we? Two in one, Kit. Minimizing efforts to gain the most. Business 101.”
“Something tells me you didn’t learn business the proper way.”
“Yeah, The Organization had a pretty fucked up way of seeing a LOT of things. Business was only the easiest to manipulate in their favor.”
“That is some spicy social commentary.”
“That manipulated that too. They were a pretty messed up group.”
“Yet they had their hooks in the two of you…”
“I was a kid who knew what I wanted. Still do. I know where my destiny lies. It’s not against Karlie and Nikki. It’s not holding the Tag Titles or the Cruiserweight Title. It’s not on CruiserClash or Clash, or even in Action Wrestling. My destiny is something far greater than any of this. This is just a first step that I figured out I’m pretty good at. Don’t worry Kit, you’re a part of this now. You’ll always have a place at my side. Just…a couple steps lower.”
“So long as Aisuru is safe in whatever world you’re planning on creating, than I will be happy.”
Roddy shrugs.
“No issues from me. As far as I’m concerned, if
Kitsumi’s phone vibrates. She takes it out and reads the text message.
“Noriko is here. I have to leave now. Make sure to get to the school earlier that day.”
“I know the plan, Kit. You can trust me.”
Kitsumi smiles her soft smile.
“I know I can…”
Her sinister smile suddenly appears.

Roddy is looking at her now, his eyes wide.
Kitsumi tilts her head a little bit to the right before turning around and skipping away, out of the factory and back to her mom.
Roddy shakes his head to recompose himself.
Doc returns, approaching Roddy tentatively, his hat returned to his head.
He has something rolled under his arm.
“What is that?”
Doc ignores the crack in Roddy’s throat.
Instead, he takes out the rolled up newspaper and hands it to Roddy.
“I got this from one of the girls who were giving Kitsumi the evil eye the other week. The blonde one with the colorful ends.”
“Minami.”
Doc raises his eyebrow.
“I’ve learned my ally’s enemies.”
“Right. Alliances 103.”
Roddy opens up the newspaper, looking at the cover.
His eyes widen so quickly that his Raybans fall down onto the crown of his nose.
“How did she get this?”
“She didn’t say. She just handed this to me while you were in the bathroom and then went to class.”
The newspaper crinkles as Roddy’s grip tightens.
“Doc…”
“Yes, I know.”
“…this is dated a week from now…and says Dallas, not Austin.”
“Yes, I know. What makes it worse is she says she got it like…a month ago. From Kitsumi. Who tried to trash it.”
Roddy hands the newspaper back to Doc. He takes his Raybans off and lets out a breath.
“Doc…I think we’ve just signed a deal with the devil.”
“Roddy…it’s much worse than that. Whatever Kitsumi is isn’t good, but one thing’s for certain…”
Roddy turns his gaze to Doc, dreading the answer.
“…she’s still human.”
