We open up on Kemp sitting in his hotel room in Kansas City. He shifted his homebase to Kansas City since Uprising. Kemp doesn’t want to go home. He wants to dodge the questions. The same questions he’s been asked since he lost at Uprising. “Are you ok?” “Are you going to get in the ring with that monster again?” “Did you almost die?” Those questions circle his head like a constant loop and he can’t stand it. He was home for one day after Uprising and was approached by eight people. That’s the double edged sword with living in a MIdwest town. Everyone is in everyone’s business.
A sly smile crosses Kemps face. The other side of that is that everyone will want to congratulate Kemp when he gets his revenge. He walks over to the closet and opens it. He pulls out a black backpack and tosses it on the bed. The backpack smells like a musty old room. He stares at the bag and starts to breathe heavier. He hasn’t opened this bag since that night.
He unzips the backpack and the smell gets stronger. He pulls out the Under Armour shorts he wrestled in that night and stares at them. They were new and flashy just for that night. It was supposed to be his coronation. The victory that proved his United States Title reign wasn’t a fluke. The shorts are blue with yellow accents but there’s one clear color that stands out. All along the shorts are dark crimson stains. Those stains are his blood and with those stains comes a range of emotions.
Many would expect that Kemp would see the stains and relent at the thought of getting in the ring with Walter again. The last two times they have gotten into the ring together he has almost died and Kemp knows that Walter enjoyed it. Many thought that Kemp was completely out as Walter left the ring at Uprising but the truth is that he was coming to and heard a noise that he will never forget. Walter laughing. The son of a bitch enjoyed what he did to Kemp and that just fuels his fire. The fact that Walter enjoyed it means only one thing to Kemp. He’s going to do this to someone else and there’s only been one person that has proven to the world that he can stop Walter. That’s Kyle Kemp.
It was at that moment that Kemp decided that he was not going to walk away from Walter. He was not going to let him believe that he could get away with this. Kemp knew he had to step up for the rest of the locker room and take Walter down and he had to do it by any means necessary. He tosses the shorts to the side and goes back to the closet. He reaches in and pulls out the black Louisville Slugger bat. He holds it in his hands as he takes a seat at the edge of the bed. He stares at the bat and knows that he’s going to have to swing harder than he has ever before to beat Walter. He stares straight ahead thinking about just that as we fade away.

1:00 PM
It is six days before Execution and we are at a fan rally in Phoenix. Fans have surrounded a stage that has been put up on the street outside of the arena. The street is closed off to traffic and fans have surrounded it. Jenna Bauer walks onto the stage in a tight blue dress to a huge pop and she waves to the crowd. “Thank you all so much! We at Action Wrestling appreciate you coming out this afternoon. As many of you know we have quite the event for all of you next weekend! That event is Execution!” The fans erupt in cheers and Jenna puts her hands up to quiet them. “We have so many great matches, including the first ever Elimination Chamber for the World Title! We have a grudge match between the Leviathan and Guillotine inside the Execution Cage! We also have another match which will be the first Execution Cage match of the night! That match will be for the United States Title and will be between Walter and Kyle Kemp!” The fans lose their minds at the first mention of Kemps name. “Do you all like that!? Well I’m happy because here is Kyle Kemp himself!” Jenna points to the end of the stage and Kemp walks on. He’s wearing light denim skinny jeans, a white t-shirt and tan boots. He smiles as the crowd begins to chant his name.
This goes on for a minute but Kemp puts up his hand as they quiet down. “Thank you Jenna and thank you Phoenix!”
The crowd erupts again for a second before quieting down once more. “Well I’m happy you could join us Kyle. This is going to be a crazy event and we are already getting hyped for it and it’s still six days away.”
“Six days to long in my opinion.”
“Well you seem excited to get back into the ring Kyle and I have to ask. Why? Why do this? We all know you were not guaranteed a rematch with Walter for the United States Title since automatic rematches no longer occur. Why seek this out?”
“Why not Jenna? I have beaten Walter before and I know I can do it again.”
The crowd cheers but Jenna is not having any of it. “That’s the easy answer Kyle but you and I both know it’s not that easy. He’s almost killed you twice and you’ve been taken to the hospital twice in the last month because of him. Why risk your life? Why not move on to the next guy and continue what has been a great career for you?”
Kemp takes a second to compose himself. “Well I have to say that everything you said was right. He has done those things to me and the easy move would be to walk away. God knows some of the other guys on this roster would have. The problem is that every time I have thought about moving on I have thought about the path of destruction that son of a bitch will leave in his path if I do. I have thought about all of my brothers and sisters on the Action Wrestling roster and I know I would not be able to live with myself if I walked away and he ended up killing one of them.” Kemp takes a second as his voice waivers. “I have done a lot wrong in my career but nothing would be more wrong if I were to walk away and have somebody else get hurt. I’d have their blood on my hands and I couldn’t let myself live with that. That’s why I knew that when I was cleared I was coming back to finish this thing with Walter once and for all.”
“Well that’s commendable Kyle but I have to ask, are you ok with the lengths you’ve gone to get this match? You fooled all of us into thinking you were going to be out for an extended amount of time just to get the drop on Walter. Are you losing who you have worked so hard to become?”
“You know that’s a great question and to that I say that I don’t know. I may becoming someone that I won’t be able to look at in the mirror but that’s better than the alternative. That’s better than having that blood on my hands. Imagine if you were doing this same media appearance with Walter Jenna. Imagine if Etta were to lose control of the monster and he attacked you or any of these fans. Would you be able to live with yourself if you were me? Would you be able to live knowing you didn’t do everything you could to stop it?” Kemp walks over to the edge of the stage and speaks to the fans. “I know that what I did was a little deceiving but the truth is that I had to get Walters attention once again. I had to show him that I wasn’t going anywhere and I was going to keep coming after him. Did I have to lie? Yes. Do I regret it? No. I don’t blame any of you if you were a little upset with me but understand that that is a risk I’m willing to take. The safety of the roster, management and the fans are more important to me than my rep taking a hit. This is so much more than any of that.”
“Well I have to say that I respect that Kyle and from what I hear you have something else that you want to do here?”
Kemp smiles. “I do. I want everyone to know exactly how serious I am so I am going to do this right here in front of you.” Kemp reaches in his back pocket and pulls out some folded papers. “Right here is the contract for Execution. This is a contract that not only says that I will fight Walter in the Execution Cage but I will waive all of my legal rights in this match. I cannot sue Action Wrestling for putting me in an unsafe working environment or any of that other bullshit which is just fine with me. I have to sign this to compete at Execution and I wanted to come out here and sign this in front of all of you, showing you all that I am serious in my quest to stop Walter.”
“Before you sign that Kyle I want to ask you one more question. One question that has circulated social media. Are you just doing all of this to get back the United States Title?”
Kemp scoffs. “Hell no. I’m doing this because it’s what is right. I’m doing this for all of those reasons I said before. This has nothing to do with the United States Title besides it would feel good to take it off a man that doesn’t deserve it. The fact that that title is on the line means less to me than stopping Walter. Some may think this is about me chasing that same moment where I won the title from Walter in the first place but this is just so much more. This is about Action Wrestling. This is about all of you!” The fans pop as Kemp walks over to a stool on the stage and places the papers down. He pulls a pen from his pocket and signs the contract. He walks over to Jenna and places it in her hands. “You go back to Camila who I know is in the back here and give this to her. You tell her that I’m going to take care of the problem she created. You tell her that I’m going to take Walter out or I’m going to die trying.” Kemp drops the mic and walks off the stage as the fans chant his name.

September 12th
8:30pm
We pick up on Kemp sitting in a boat on Thedore Roosevelt Lake in Arizona. Kemp is taking in the relaxing views, trying to clear his mind before the biggest night of his life. Execution is only a couple of days away. He came out here to get away from all of the noise and to let his thoughts spill out on their own. He pulls out his phone and begins to Instagram live. “Out here things seem so much simpler. It’s about catching fish, getting a tan or just escaping from it all and the latter is exactly what I’m doing today. I’m escaping and it’s not because I’m scared of what is to come but because I know I’m going to have to go into this match with an outlook I’ve never had before. I have to go in to Execution ready to do just that. Execute another man.”
Kemp takes a deep breath. “This is what it has come to Walter. In order to stop you I fully believe that I’m going to have to end your life. The prospect of that has not just dawned on me now but has weighed on me since Uprising and do you know what is really sad? The weight of that is not due to me being nervous or having a moral dilemma. The weight of that is the fact that I’m enjoying the thought.”
“I can see myself hitting you in the face with a bat, just like I did a couple of weeks ago, and enjoying crushing your skull. The questions is, why is that? Have you pushed me that far? Have you turned me into you? Is this what you wanted all along? Those are the things that run through my head right now but as I sit in this beautiful lake I know that none of it matters. Becoming a killer means nothing because the truth is that I’m willing to do whatever it takes to take you down.”
Kemp smirks. “So the question I have for you is this Walter. If I’m so willing to do whatever it takes, what are you going to do? So many people have wondered if I can do what is necessary to beat you and if I had the stomach for it but do you? No one has stood up to you like I have and in order to just beat me in the choke out match you had to bring it that shady cop to give your pointers on choking a man out. Who will you look to for advice in this case? Who will be the one that walks you through all of the weapons and explains to you what to do? The reality of the situation Walter is that you aren’t ready for me. So many people are so worried about me but the fact of the matter is that people should be worried about you.”
“God knows I’m worried about you Walter. Well not you but that dumb bitch Etta. What will she do when you are no longer around to “take care” of? When we first started fighting I felt sorry for her. I thought it was a burden for her to drag you around and be your handler but the longer we have gone on has made me realize she is just as bad as you are. She stands idly by and watches you commit heinous crimes and sometimes you can tell she manipulates you to do it. That switch isn’t what keeps you in check. It’s what keeps you under her control. What happens to her when she no longer has that luxury? I’ll tell you what. She goes back to remembering that her pathetic life isn’t worth living. She may have not liked all of the violence you committed before but you can tell she loves it now and it’s sad you don’t see she’s playing you.”
Kemp leans forward. “As I say all of this does any of it hit home Walter? Does any of this unlock those thoughts you have been hiding in the back of your head? You can be honest Walter. You can be honest with yourself and with me. For so long you have referred to yourself as a monster but the real monster now stands behind you. Controlling you like the puppet you really are. How can you call yourself an evolved man when you’ve been completely emasculated? Something else for you to think about.”
“However don’t focus on that my friend. Focus on what stands in front of you. Focus on me! Focus on the man you once said was inferior and not violent enough to compete with you. Was I violent enough when I nearly knocked your head clean off? Was I violent enough when I choked you out a couple months ago? Tell me Walter! Am I the same guy you thought I was? Because I’m going to walk in that execution cage and I’m going to finish what I started with that bat!”
“There is no stopping me Walter. I’m more willing than ever before to do whatever it takes to beat you. That’s why I lied about being in the hospital. That’s why I haven’t let this go! That’s why I asked for this match!”
Kemp smiles. “Oh that’s right Walter! I asked to fight you in the Execution Cage! Some have said I’m crazy to agree to step in there with you but the truth is that I wanted this. I said it the other day and I’ll say it again. I’m going to stop you Walter. I’m going to stop you from hurting others and I’m going to stop you from ruining Action Wrestling for the rest of us.”
“I don’t care about winning the United States Title back. I don’t care about pinning you. I don’t care about choking you out. What I care about is making sure you don’t get up when that bell rings. I’m going to make sure you are never the same again. You are going to remember Kyle Kemp until the day your last breath leaves your mouth. This is about more than professional wrestling. This is about decency. This is about morals. This is about stopping a bully before things get out of control. One way or the other it will be me or you Walter. Me or you. I’ll see you in the Execution Cage!”
