“Philidor Holdings… The Following… #FightSmart, #BeachKrew. Pantheon.”
All of these names are seen on a whiteboard, X-ed out in red EXPO.
“Every single one of these collectives share quite a few commonalities. Each consisted of some of the best athletes of their generations. Each had a reign of terror that- in their respective primes- had been previously unseen. Let’s face it. Each one of these groups could put in their own arguments to be the most influential, most dangerous collection of wrestlers in the history of the business.
“Of course, the last commonality amongst these groups is that their claim is far from true.”
As the camera zooms out from the whiteboard, a rough-looking Damian Kaine stands in front of it. His hair is slightly longer and unkempt, but a wicked grin comes across his face as he steps aside, revealing a list of names in black.
“I’ve been nearly radio silent since my release from Action Wrestling. I’ve been taking the last three weeks to sit back and think. And frankly, I believe that I’ve finally cracked the code that has impeded my success. There is a certain… nepotism that exists among the AW corporate office.
“In case you weren’t paying attention, in the weeks leading up to my release, I had been taken off of AW television. I wasn’t even booked for house shows. It didn’t matter that I was on a hot streak, having busted through the doors of Clash. It didn’t even matter that I had aligned myself with an AW golden boy like CJ Phoenix. It’s as though the high brass didn’t like the idea of anybody making waves that wasn’t one of their own. So they blocked my path. And that’s when my eyes finally opened:
“There is a hierarchy in Action Wrestling. Torture’s Inner Circle. And THEY are the most influential, dangerous collective in the history of wrestling.”
Damian flips the whiteboard, and a list of superstars are seen.
“Once I uncovered the overall conspiracy, however, I needed to deduce the conspirators. There were the obvious few:
“I call these few, and others, the Untouchables. Their pull with the boss is too large to be able to make a dent in it at first. But believe me, folks. There are quite a few dents in the armor of the inner circle. For example…
“Karlie Nash: Someone who, despite putting in minimal effort to stand out in a crowd, somehow manages to always be placed in opportunities that most wouldn’t dare dream of. With little solo success, she resorted to dragging yet another no-named athlete, Nikki Vaughn, into moderate success. But can you call it success when your division consists solely of two real teams and a bunch of talent-enhancing dreamers who can barely lace up a pair of boots? Something just doesn’t add up about Karlie’s continued employment, when I’m thrown to the wolves at the first available opportunity.
“Teo Blaze: Probably the best example of Torture’s blatant nepotism. Hot off his ‘reign’ as WCF’s final World champion, he came into AW in a- ahem- blaze. But that blaze quickly simmered out, as Teo failed. Time, and time again. That is, until Torture sent him down to CruiserClash. Sure, Teo. If you throw a shark into a pond of minnows, of course it’ll thrive. And I tried… I tried to stop Teo. But my eyes were sealed shut… I couldn’t see the conspiracy unfolding right before me, and that was my downfall… and Teo’s only success.
“And finally… Roddy Zalez: Torture’s $1,000,000 investment. He just couldn’t let this one fail on his own, now could he? He failed at the biggest show of the year. He failed to get into All In. He barely manages to win matches without interference. Yet he’s practically handed the last entrance into CruiserHavoc on a silver platter?
“Torture, your poker face may fool the sheep, but I can see your hand, clear as day. Your influence will no longer affect my career, or anybody else’s. Because I vow to put an end to this regime. The Inner Circle will die. And it starts at CruiserHavoc.”
The feed cuts abruptly.
