  Bloody hell, Iβm so late! Katherine thought as her Uber pulled up outside The Smooth Brew Coffee House in downtown Sacramento. Clutching her phone and bag; she clambered out the rear passenger door as she checked the time once more - 15:15. Itβs only fifteen minutes - sheβll still be here. Katherine was excited, it wasnβt every day you get to sit down and have a coffee with one of your heroes. But Johnnyβs warning - it lingered in the back of her mind. Sometimes they say donβt meet your hero - youβll only be disappointed. Katherine pulled open the entrance door with a nervous excitement. An initial scanning of the room failed. Where is she - has she already left? Just as a disappointed Katherine turned to leave, she spotted Lissie Hope - sat in the corner, trying to look inconspicuous. Lissieβs silvery-blonde and black hair was concealed with a beanie, whilst her eyes were covered with large round glasses. After a moment, Lissie spotted Katherine and quickly concealed something into her bag before continuing to take a sip of her Americano. They smiled at each other, and Katherine walked over as Lissie stood to greet the newcomer. βHey girl, really glad you could make it,β said Lissie. Two in a row, thatβs bloody fantastic! Iβve now been granted an opportunity I have longed for so badly. A win will make me the number one contender for the Television Championship... ...a Championship I absolutely adore! Iβve been watching wrestling for as long as I can remember - Iβd like to think I know quite a bit about it and Iβve always had somewhat of a fascination with Television Championships. Firstly; you often find newer talent competing for it - itβs always great seeing someone different flourish. But most importantly - if the right person has that Championship around their waist, it can form the foundations for a strong career, to help plant roots - to start to cement their legacy. I want the Television Championship so badly - it will give me another platform to show the world what I can achieve. But in my way is another newcomer to Action Wrestling, someone else looking to spread their own roots within this great promotion. Hunter Ryan, or just Hunter as you now prefer - it looks like we both have the same goal. As I thumb through your biography, I keep having the same recurring thought - do you need this? After all, it says here you.ve won dozens of Championships, and you were even inducted into a Hall of Fame - Iβm impressed. Where though? Like I previously said, Iβm rather obsessed with this sport - yet I havenβt heard of you, not Hunter Ryan, nor just Hunter on its own. I doubt you wrestled on a national level - perhaps you were inducted into the Wayne County Hall of Fame? Or maybe somewhere down in Florida? PWI only recognises a select few Championships as having βWorldβ status - being the Florida Champion doesnβt make you a World Champion - you do realise this, yes? Regardless of your past experience, I know how competitors like yourself treat the Television Championship - like a stepping stone - as if you are too good for it. And that really bothers me. Iβd give anything for the pleasure of becoming the next Television Champion - Iβd be the forty-second in Action Wrestling history if I defeated Claire Hawkins, or the forty-third if Jason Cain beats her next week, and I was then lucky enough to best my fellow newcomer during his first title defence. A hotshot like yourself - do you know who they even are? Claire Hawkins is the reigning four-time Television Champion - have you bothered to even check? I doubt it. You also probably didnβt watch Charlie Rossi win the battle royal to become the inaugural Championβ¦ ...or when Lockheart shocked the world when he captured the Championship after his record-setting World Title reign had endedβ¦ β¦ when firstly Estrella Luiz, then Ash Blake and finally Downfall - they all went on to break the record for the length of title reignsβ¦ ...when Carter Shaw won the Championship, and much like Ash Blake, they both built on their successful title reigns and eventually became World Championsβ¦ I think not! But guess what - I DID!! I was watching back home when all these individuals cemented their places in history. Not with some bogus company down in Florida or Detroit - no, cementing their histories in Action Wrestling - the premier wrestling promotion in the world - the only place where it truly matters. I am not a Hall of Famer - Iβm merely a humble rookie looking to earn my way to the top through hard work and sheer determination. Winning this match does not win me the Championship - of course it doesnβt. But it gives me the opportunity to - and thatβs all Iβm asking for - an opportunity to start cementing my own legacy. Iβd be lying if I said I hadnβt dreamed of clutching that beautiful silver heptagon-shaped Championship in my arms - or wearing it with pride around my waist as I make my entrance. Youβre fresh out of retirement Hunter, do you think you can hang with me in the ring? Not the Hall of Famer Hunter, Iβm talking about the bored loner looking to scratch an itch. I like to think Iβm a decent, wholesome person - but Iβve been preparing for this shot my whole life, and when I bite down on my mouthguard - Iβm going to war. The Television Championship is simply another payday to you - itβs everything to me. Just try and pluck the opportunity away from me - like plucking the petals of a rose. The thing is Hunter, this English Rose has sharp thornsβ¦ ...and itβs gonna cause you a sharp prick of reality. And if youβre not carefulβ¦ ...it might even draw blood.  |
