International Nurses Day is an international day observed around the world on 12 May (the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth) of each year, to mark the contributions that nurses make to society.
James Nightingale sits once more within his private chambers, behind his desk. Placed in front of him is a birthday cake, with a random amount of candles. He slowly lights them.
He stares at the cake, smiling sadistically. Finally, he begins to sing quietly.
James Nightingale: Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday to my dear almighty Matriarch, happy birthday to you…
As James finishes singing, the room transitions to a blood-red shade and The Matriarch appears from behind Nightingale, holding her lamp in front of her. She stares at the cake as she places her free hand on James’s shoulder. She then raises the lamp in her right hand high into the air, causing the flames of the candles to grow fiercely. To avoid being burned, James jumps back in his seat.
As he rests back into his chair he notices something unusual in the mirror across the room. He stands and cautiously walks over to it, whilst being followed by The Matriarch.
He gazes into the mirror, but its reflection shocks him. Looking upon him is his old self, James Harrison. The former wrestler turned nurse was eventually consumed by The Matriarch, twisted by her evil ways and reborn as James Nightingale.
James Harrison, dressed in his old nurses uniform raises his hands to the mirror as if he was stuck behind a glass window. After a moment he begins to bang both fists against it, trying to escape. Nightingale steps back in fear, shocked by what he is witnessing. James Harrison continues to attempt to escape the mirror, his muffled screams barely audible, but it sounds like he is shouting “Save me”.
Nightingale turns to The Matriarch, but she is gone.
James Nightingale: My Matriarch, why have you abandoned me?
The mirror smashes, The Angel of Death quickly turns once more, and Harrison is now standing toe-to-toe with Nightingale, his nurse's uniform now covered in blood splatter. He grabs the lapels of Nightingale’s jacket.
James Harrison: Please… please free me…
Nightingale struggles and pushes off Harrison before slumping to the ground. Adrian can be heard banging on the door.
Adrian: BOSS!... BOSS!!!
Nightingale doesn’t respond, Adrian finally manages to force the door open, pushing his way into the room. He looks down at Nightingale, noticing his knuckles are bloodied. He then turns to his left, noticing the mirror, smashed. He glances over at the birthday cake, its candles still lit as he crouches down next to Nightingale.
Adrian: Boss… what’s going on?
