In black and white, a river fades into view. A crowd is assembled on the banks, all dressed in white clothing and wearing white masks. They stare at the river expectantly. An ear piercing scream echoes across the landscape, causing ripples to form in the water and the gathered masses to recoil. Then, out of the water, rises VOID, wading towards the crowd. One by one, they start to walk into the water to meet him.
Last week, I gave my first sermon to the congregation of Action, with my defeat of S̶̺̽t̷̲̕e̴̩̍l̴̫̔l̷̬̄a̴̻̐ ̴͎̋S̵̠͛l̷̮͂a̸̅ͅť̸̘e̷͔̓r̵͙̈́ and K̵̡̉ò̸̞l̶̬̑y̶̙̓a̸͖͛. Yet, despite speaking loudly and clearly, it’s clear some in Action are still ignorant to my message. And for that, I blame myself. How can I preach when so many of you are uninitiated. So, at Cruiserhavoc, prepare for your initiation into the Church of the Abyss.
As the line of people starts to reach VOID, he begins to dunk each soul into the river. But once under, they disappear into the depths.
All of you are lying to yourselves. Don’t you see it? Ȓ̴̼e̴͍̎o̵̗͛ ̶̡̽Ŗ̴̛a̴͍̚i̵͍͛j̴̥̏ǐ̷̩n̶͈̏, I know you do. We all wear masks, all claim our cause to be just. But, in the end, we are all in error. Reo, give in to the sheer chaos of it all. Once you accept that we can’t change what’s under the mask, that our actions don’t matter, it’s all so much easier.
M̵̭̌a̵̲͌x̸̩͊ ̶͕̑D̵̫̈́a̵̼̅è̵̡m̸̖̓o̶̳̚n̸̘͊, you, like many others, have chosen to define yourself through violence. You cling to it as an idol, swearing by it’s brutal simplicity. But, your mistress always deserts you eventually. The Abyss will never desert you. Once you are swallowed, it welcomes you wholeheartedly, and you will welcome the immortal virtues of nothingness and Pure, unforgiving chance.
Then there’s the so-called supervillain known as S̴̩͗i̴̧̛e̶̫̎r̴̤̐r̴͓̂a̷͈͊ ̴̱̇S̴͍̈́i̴͇̾l̴͓͐v̴̝͗è̸̦r̵̫͠. She knows nothing of the hardships of the world, of the cruel hand that takes what you love most when you least expect it… Sierra, you have great potential, but need a guiding hand, something to give you a killer edge. Forget this delusion of supervillains. Morality is a manmade construct to keep us from embracing our true selves. Let that mantle drop, and your opponents will fall before you.
Two men are left, standing on the shore. Both men stand still, refusing to get into the water.
Ah yes. We are left with two. Two incredible talents who, despite being the first two entrants, are at the top of everyone’s lists. But, while these two Goliaths may laugh down at me, all I need is my faith and a few pebbles to strike them down.
First, there’s J̴͕̈́C̶͎̐ ̴̼̄K̵̺̀e̷̱͘e̵̠̐t̵̙̓ó̵͉n̸̤̍, a man who has steeped himself in success since he has come to Action. He has experience in the harsh waters of Cruiserhavoc. He knows his worth, and isn’t afraid to announce it. See, that’s the problem with the successful. They start by calling out the titans on their bullshit, but once they finally slay their “oppressors,” they turn around and declare themselves gods. It sickens me. You can insult my values all you want, but no matter my stance in this company, I will always hold true to my mission. Keeton, I will put an end to your preening and posing. And once the success that has so avidly followed you finally leaves you high and dry, you’ll be forced to accept the meaningless of it all.
And last. The champ, K̸̠̀a̵̱͌z̵̡̄ ̶̣̂M̴͚͛a̸̼̅z̵̢̄y̵̮͌. A dominant force among the cruiserweights. Kaz, you once called yourself a Hand of Fate. You’ve turned away all comers for your title. In the process, you’ve gone down a long, dark road. A road that was once unfamiliar, but now you call home. But, be careful where you set down your fire, Kaz. Once you go into the darkness, you leave yourself open to the monsters that live there. Monsters like me. The darkness goes against your very being. But I wear it as a cloak.
VOID grabs both men by the necks and walks backwards, into the water.
At Sunday mass, all will join the congregation. I will claim the soul of Action. The era of the Abyss will begin.
