We get footage of the various Cruiserweights in the Rumble.
Footage of Karlie Nash, Sierra Silver, Sara Petti, Trey Bouchet…
We see finishers being hit on unfortunate opponents as well as some of their prime moments whilst in AW.
Footage of Trey Bouchet, Orret, Nidrah, CJ Phoenix and their finishers all being hit.
“Men and women in this company have defined themselves to a simple label…” Max’s voice can be heard over the footage.
“…Cruiserweights.”
Footage of Spayde, Keeton, Slater, and Reo is seen being layered over the screen.
“These men and women have deigned themselves this label because they weigh less than a specific amount of pounds. And quite frankly…”
The screen fades and we see Max Daemon standing in front of a pitch black background. His Pure Championship rests over his right shoulder and an uneasy smirk rests easy on his face.
“…it’s disappointing.
These wrestlers give their lives to enter this sport, and they are separated simply because of how much they weigh. Never mind how good they are or who they beat. All that makes them different is their weight.
A month or so ago I made it clear that I'm not going to be just a champion who rests on their laurels and lets everybody else pass them by. I’m a fighting champion, and I told the world that I’d be happy to defend this title on this show.
As it just so happens I qualify for what you wound count as a Cruiserweight. So fuck it. Let’s bring the fight to you.”
Footage of Max’s various victories over the course of his time here is seen being layered over Max.
“However I am nothing like the others. Most of the people in this match are trying to make their names known worldwide. It’s an adamant effort, but…you’re going about it all wrong when you decide to limit yourself.
Fuck labels. Fuck being different. Fuck the Cruiserweights.
The main difference between me and the rest of them is that I…”
We see Max beating Noris Cranley.
“…have proven why I deserve this championship. And that’s the thing…guys like Andre Jenson and Teo Blaze…they have earned their tag titles…but this is not a tag division. This match is for the Cruiserweight Title currently held by Kaz Mazy. As far as I’m concerned, any focus on any tag team ranks is a distraction.
Any focus on another rivalry going into this is a distraction.
Any focus on anything but the victory is a distraction.”
We get footage of 2 Gents and Kaz all holding their titles up high.
“As a champion I have proven I am willing and able to stand up to the biggest this company has…what makes you think the Cruiserweights would be any more difficult? I fight for this championship every time I defend it, and I risk more than being tossed over the top rope.
I risk blood loss. I risk broken bones. I risk losing limbs.
And as ZMac can assure you…you’re risking your life.”
The feed shows Max making ZMac pass out from their last match together.
“I survived the Warfare. I’ve survived worse wars than this.
Can I guarantee victory? No.”
The smirk returns to Max’s face.
“But can you people guarantee that you’re good enough to survive against me? Good wrestlers have tried. Better wrestlers have failed.
You might all be fighting to beat Kaz, but I’m fighting to survive, and in this type of match, survival…is the one fuckin thing that will guarantee you a victory. And as you can see by the championship I already hold…survival is something I am very…very…good at.
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but it bares repeating again.
My very first match was a battle royal for the World Championship.
I won.
My very first match with the Cruiserweights is for the Cruiserweight Championship.”
Max releases a few chuckles as footage is shown of Max eliminating Raven Hex before it cuts to Max holding the FWF World Title above his head.
“I’m never been good at learning from history, so…get ready for it to repeat itself.”
Max moves his right hand towards the camera lens. The feed proceeds to cut out.
