David Sanchez vs. Carter Shaw
A guitar swell takes over the P.A. as PHILIDOR HOLDINGS L.L.C. flashes on the ActionTron until the guitar riff of "Angry Heart" By Otherwise kicks in, accompanied by the large screen filling with a 3D video of Carter Shaw punching through glass as if punching through the screen itself. Green strobe lights electrify the entrance stage as a hooded Shaw walks slowly out from the curtain, the ALL-IN Briefcase in hand. He stands still at the top of the ramp, a mixed reaction coming loudly from the crowd, as he slowly lifts his head enough to show his face from the hood, followed by lifting the briefcase high above his head.
Adilene Floyd: Coming to the ring, from Boston, Massachusetts...representing Philidor Holdings, HE IS MR. ALL-IN, CARTEERRR SSHHAAAAAAAW!
He slowly turns in a 360, showing the "Simply Put" across the front of the hoodie and then showing the slanted "Philidor" branding across the back of the hoodie. He bursts out from the stage, knocking his head back to kick the hoodie off. His blue eyes look out over the crowd as he walks energetically into the ring, sliding in under the bottom rope. He walks in a circle along the ropes, holding up and slapping the All-In briefcase excitedly before placing it towards ring side. Shaw hops up to the 2nd rope, giving a look out and around the crowd with his piercing blue eyes. No pose. Nothing. He lets himself start to fall backwards before dropping and landing on his feet.
Billy: Mr. All-In looking very focused tonight.
Chris Avery: He always looks focused, I think that’s just his face.
Billy: These two have had several heated exchanges in the past, and boy did they have some harsh words for one another this past week. These two know how to FIGHT.
The arena falls into a tepid silence as the opening guitar riff to Royal Blood’s “Out of the Black” begins to trickle out of the PA system, starting quiet and building to a thunderous din as the words kick into action. The crowd are perplexed at first until the screen does the legwork in identifying who is coming to the ring by showing highlights from the career of David Sanchez’ various matches and misdeeds.
The song plays on as the audience erupts into a sea of hateful chants and a rapture of hissing, gesturing and miscellaneous disapproving noises. David Sanchez appears center stage, his face hidden behind a mask of solid iron. Dressed in his simple wrestling gear apart from this: black trunks and pads; all donning a tiny blue 'DS.' He soaks it all in for a second. Stopping halfway down the ramp and staring vacantly at the camera; the creepy metal mask sending shivers down the viewers spine.
Adilene Floyd: And his opponent, he is the MAYOR of SICKAGO, DAAVVIID SAAANCHEZ!
NNo pyrotechnics are launched, nor do the lights flicker. He believed simplicity was more intimidating than flashing strobes, smoke and fireworks. The mask was enough now' he thought. As he walks he removes the mask slowly by unfastening the hinge at the base of the skull. Once revealed, he smiles and high fives the three or four fans who let him. Once he slides into the ring he stretches out his limbs in a warm-up. He acts as though the arena is empty, as if this was simply a practice run. A slightly troubling smile still stretched across his face, Sanchez carefully places the iron mask under a far turnbuckle in a way so that the eyeholes can watch the match.
Billy: These two are so intense. Not to mention it’s Lost Breed representation against Philidor Holdings representation!
Chris Avery: That’s right, but these two have had eyes for one another for a while now. Look at Sanchez, taunting out to the crowd still.
Billy: And look at...LOOK AT SHAW! Carter Shaw charging him like a bull!
Shaw spears Sanchez down from the side as the ring bell sounds, Shaw raining down right fists as Sanchez tries to cover up his head. Shaw swings a leg over, looking for a mount, but Sanchez manages to slither out and escape. As he gets up though, Shaw has him trapped in the corner, swinging rights and lefts up into each ribcage. He follows them up with lifting alternating knees now. Sanchez is reeling but with a sharp hook from his coverup, he frees himself from the corner. Shaw is on him like a boxer, following in a shuffle. Sanchez runs and hits the ropes, ducking a swinging fist from Shaw. Off the 2nd rebound, Sanchez rips a 360 elbow that bypasses Shaw’s attack and connects straight to the head, flattening Mr. All-In.
Billy: What a physical exchange to start this thing!
Chris Avery: Shaw’s got tons of fighting experience, but Sanchez has 2 decades of experience over Shaw. It’s gonna take alot to find something that Sanchez hasn’t seen before.
Shaw gets up to his feet quickly, but Sanchez quickly grabs him with a Gutwrench suplex followed with a dropping knee to the side of the head. Shaw gets up to all fours and Sanchez lets a vicious soccer kick rip to the gut, Shaw spinning away in pain. Sanchez stays hot on the pursuit, talking shit as he does at the downed opponent. Shaw is up against the ropes and Sanchez helps him up. Sanchez nails a palm strike to the torso of Shaw, and Shaw responds with a lightning quick knife edge chop that leaves a handprint on Sanchez’s toned chest. Sanchez Irish whips Shaw across the ring and goes to hit him with a Tilt A Whirl Backbreaker, but Shaw flips out of it to land on his feet. Shaw now whips Sanchez and ALSO goes for a Tilt A Whirl Backbreaker! Sanchez shows that, at 47, he’s still as spry as ever, also flipping out of it.
Billy: We’ve got a Tilt A Whirl War going on in there!
Chris Avery: From Splash Mountain to the Tilt-A-Whirl for David Sanchez.
As Sanchez lands on his feet, Shaw is prepared for the reversal and nails a stiff left kick high to the chest of Sanchez, followed up with a Double-Arm DDT. Sanchez rolls away after the impactful move, finding his way to the outside to collect himself. Sanchez stumbles around a bit before turning back to the ring only to see a FLYING CARTER SHAW, who has leaped over the top rope with a flip, crashing down onto Sanchez!
Billy: FLYING SHAW!
Chris Avery: He doesn’t just swing punches, it’s that willingness to throw caution to the wind that has made the difference for Shaw in the past!
The ref begins counting both out as they struggle to get back to their feet. At the count of ‘4’, Shaw is helping Sanchez to his feet, but Sanchez reaches up with a chop that connects with Shaw’s throat! Shaw falls back to the barricade, gasping for breath. Sanchez rolls in the ring just enough to break the count and resumes the outside activity. Sanchez hits a few clean punches before locking up both arms of Shaw and lifting him with a Butterfly Suplex, adjusting mid air to drop Shaw’s spine lateral on top of the ring barricade! Shaw falls to the apron as Sanchez laughs, talking more shit to the fans in the front row.
Billy: Who Put That There!
Chris Avery: That section? I believe it was Craig, the old ring hand did.
Billy: No, Who Put that There!
Chris Avery: For christ’s sake, Billy, I saw Craig do it myself!
Sanchez is leading Shaw by the neck, lifting his head and driving it into the top of the steel steps. The ref is yelling warnings and numbers, Sanchez rolling back in and out to reset the count. Sanchez continues with Shaw, driving him face first onto the top of the announce table.
Billy: Well we get the view now, don’t we?
Chris Avery: Man, up close, I think both of these guys have 8-packs instead of 6-packs.
Shaw is getting loopy, leaning backwards on the table. Sanchez hits him with a couple more good measured shots as Shaw rolls off the table and stumbles into the ring gear beside the announce table. Sanchez stalks him, looking over at Billy next to him and smirking, grabbing the headset right off of his head and placing it on his own.
David Sanchez: Come on, Avery, introduce your special guest.
Chris Avery: Uh, joining me on commentary is...David Sanchez?
Sanchez plants a boot into the face of Shaw.
David Sanchez: Don’t adjust your TV sets, you see correctly. Your little bitch hero is indeed getting his face caved in by the Mayor.
Sanchez unleashes another couple of kicks before turning his attention back to the ref counting them out.
David Sanchez: Shaw has REAL problems now. Who’s your daddy now?
Sanchez rips the headset off and tosses it into the chest of Billy. He goes to help Shaw up but Shaw charges forward from his cower, driving Sanchez backwards across the mat and into the side of the ring apron, unleashing strikes to follow. Blood trickles down from a cut, possibly two, opened up above his eyebrow. Shaw tosses Sanchez into the ring and hops up onto the ring apron as the ref warns him with an ‘8’ count. Sanchez gets up and turns around to get a faceful of The Autograph, as Shaw springboards at him with a spinning kick! Shaw goes for the pin!
Billy: SHAW’S GOING FOR THE WIN!
1…
2…
Sanchez kicks out at 2. Shaw stays on the offensive, but Sanchez is still fighting back as the two catch one another with solid swinging fists. Shaw wipes blood from his eye and catches a thrusting forward dropkick from Sanchez, the force sending Shaw back into the corner. The ref follows him to check the cut above his eye. Sanchez is walking in a small circle, regaining composure as he heads into the far corner and quickly removes the top turnbuckle pad! The steel connections are exposed as the ref backs off of Shaw. Shaw meets Sanchez in the middle of the ring as Sanchez looks to lock Shaw in the suplex position. Shaw reverses and PULLS SANCHEZ DOWN INTO A CROSSFACE!
Billy: SHITFIRE! Shaw’s got the Crossface submission locked in!
Chris Avery: Look at how tight he’s pulling back, he wants to rip Sanchez’s head off!
Shaw lets out a yell of fury as Sanchez lets out a yell of pain. Sanchez flails his arms around a bit in panic by the sudden move, but after a solid 20 seconds in the submission, he manages to scoot his knees forward enough to get them under himself, shoving his weight towards Shaw as the two scuffle for position...but now SANCHEZ has SHAW LOCKED INTO AN ARMBAR! He yanks back stiff as Shaw looks all around for a rope to grab.
Billy: These two are gonna make this match a true war of attrition! Now trading submissions?!
Shaw spends about the same amount of time in the submission as Sanchez had, before managing to get his weight over towards the arm, bringing Sanchez’s legs with him into a pin attempt.
1…
It only gets a 1 as Sanchez immediately bails on the submission. Both men scramble to be the first to their feet, both moving much slower at this point, Shaw wearing half a crimson mask. Sanchez grabs Shaw and gets him in a suplex position, but Shaw begins lifting knees wildly into the gut and chest of the Last Exile. He turns the suplex position into his favor, lifting Sanchez straight up. He holds him there, taking steps forward before planting Sanchez in a seated position on the exposed turnbuckle ring.
Billy: The ref doesn’t see that exposed steel?
Chris Avery: Well, Sanchez is sitting on it now! Plus, we all saw that the pad fell off due to natural causes.
Shaw lifts closed fists into the side of Sanchez’s face as Shaw steps up onto the 2nd turnbuckle. A few more fists have Sanchez firmly in Shaw’s control.
Billy: What is Shaw thinking here?!
Shaw looks around at the crowd a bit before gaining a little more leverage on Sanchez and lifting him slowly up into that suplex position again, this time from the turnbuckle.
Billy: Is he thinking...oh my god, no!
Chris Avery: Oh YES HE IS!
Billy: CONCUSSION PROTOCOL ON THE EXPOSED TURNBUCKLE!
Shaw drops Sanchez SKULL-FIRST with the top rope brainbuster!!! The crowd goes wild as Sanchez crumples to the mat below, the ref oblivious in the moment! Shaw leans into the corner for a few moments before moving forward and, while it looks like he’s gonna go for a pin, instead settles into a mounted position, RAINING down fists onto Sanchez! One after another, opening up a cut created by the Concussion Protocol, now SANCHEZ is bleeding. Right hand, right hand, right hand. Sanchez has almost stopped moving, but Shaw has also worked himself into exhaustion with the swings as he lets himself fall off of Sanchez. The two lay side by side for a moment.
Billy: RUTHLESS by Carter Shaw here. These guys are bleeding, they’re sweating. Everything but the tears here, folks.
Chris Avery: Shaw needs to put Sanchez away right now, THIS is his window! One of Sanchez’s greatest strengths is his stamina, you can not let opportunity slip away from you.
Shaw gets himself up off the mat and gets to his feet. He waves Sanchez on, who is beginning to stir with scrambled brains. He’s slow to get up but he indeed does, and Shaw is waiting, kicking him in the gut and getting him in position for SIMPLY PUT! He locks the arms, but Sanchez spins out of it, slips around Shaw and locks in a REAR NAKED CHOKE! Shaw’s eyes go wide as Sanchez manages to drag him to the mat and get legs wrapped around.
Chris Avery: Look at Sanchez’s eyes! They’re completely glazed over, but yet, he’s got the choke CINCHED!
Billy: Hey, I talk first.
Looking for escape, Shaw manages to fire his elbow backwards, catching tenderized parts of Sanchez from strikes throughout. One good one to the ribs and Sanchez loses his grip and his shot at choking Shaw out. Back to their feet slowly once more, Shaw moves aggressively towards Sanchez but Sanchez lifts his boot right into the face. Shaw stumbles back, grasping his jaw. And before he has any time to do anything else, Sanchez sprints forward with ANOTHER BOOT, THE MEDUSA'S TOUCH!
Billy: THATS GOTTA BE IT! MEDUSA’S TOUCH BY SANCHEZ!
Shaw is layed out, but Sanchez doesn’t make the pin immediately. He regroups and falls on Shaw for the pin!
1…
2…
3...NO! SHAW KICKS OUT JUST in time.
Billy: Wow, I can’t believe it!
Chris Avery: These men have beaten each other to a pulp. Sanchez didn’t get all of that Medusa’s Touch, AND he wasn’t able to make the pin right away.
Sanchez slowly begins helping Shaw to his feet and lifts him up onto his shoulders. He holds Shaw up there, as Sanchez’s eyes lock back on to the exposed turnbuckle that he had already been busted open on!
Billy: What’s he thinking, Lawn Dart??
Before he can move any more, Shaw kicks his way back to the ground, lifting Sanchez in a Fall Away Slam position. Now HE holds him there, driving knees upwards into the ribs once more before putting Sanchez horizontal on the top turnbuckle. Shaw AGAIN goes to the 2nd rope, with different position right now. As Sanchez tries to sturdy himself, Shaw LIFTS SANCHEZ AND GOES TO TOSS HIM WITH A FALL AWAY SLAM, HANGING ON TO THE GRIP AND MOONSAULTING ALONG WITH THE SLUNG BODY OF SANCHEZ! The two CRASH LAND to the mat with huge impact, Shaw landing RIGHT on top of Sanchez with the backflip slam. The ref drops to count the natural cover!!
1…
2…
3…!
NO! SANCHEZ’S SHOULDER SHOOTS off the canvas with a millisecond to spare.
Billy: These guys are gonna KILL EACH OTHER!
Chris Avery: Maybe, maybe. Too stubborn for their own goods, I think both of these men would NOT want to give the other the satisfaction of winning. Possibly even more important than actually winning themselves.
Shaw stumbles his way to his feet, finding his way to the ropes to rest a moment. Sanchez IS still stirring, but feeling the effects. As Sanchez stands, Shaw is already standing right there with a clenched fist. RIGHT HAND knocks Sanchez’s head back. RIGHT HAND by Sanchez does the same to Shaw. RIGHT HAND by Shaw sends Sanchez stumbling back into the ropes, but the rebound aids a stronger RIGHT HAND by Sanchez. Shaw stumbles back into the ropes as well and connects with a RIGHT HAND of his own off the rebound. Both guys take a moment to sturdy themselves, both on weak legs as one bloodied face stares into the other.
Billy: IT’S LIKE A MEXICAN STANDOFF WITHOUT THE GUNS!
Chris Avery: How many times do I have to tell you, Billy. Sanchez is COLUMBIAN.
Sanchez goes for a wild strike but Carter Shaw catches him and hits him with CONCUSSION PROTOCOL!!
SANCHEZ STUMBLES BACK UP AND CARTER HITS HIM WITH THE SIMPLY PUT!!
SHAW COLLAPSES BACK ON SANCHEZ!
ONE!!
TWO!!
THREE!!
DING DING DING
Billy: SHAW DEFEATS SANCHEZ!
Chris Avery: A HUGE WIN FOR THE PHILIDOR ALL-IN BRIEFCASE HOLDER!!
The crowd reacts as Shaw sits up and picks up his briefcase and celebrates! Vayden, Noris Cranley are in the ring and celebrate with him.
Billy: Philidor with another huge momentum-grabbing win!
Shaw rolls out of the ring as Adrian is now in the ring with Sanchez coaching him up in the corner. Sanchez looks at Shaw as if this is FAR from over.
Shaw turns around and celebrates with the Briefcase flaunting it in Sanchez' face.
We fade into the next scene.
