Always love a good recommendation and/or to know what peeps are watching out there in HuluFlixPrime land.
So this thread is for you to post something you just watched! Loved it? Hated it? Recommend it?
I just watched I'm Thinking Of Ending Things on Netflix. Not sure if I would recommend it, but man did it fuck my brain up for a good 24 hours after. That is totally the intention, directed and wrote by the same guy who wrote/directed Adaptation and Eternal Sunshine Of the Spotless Mind.
Mind fuckery. Subtle shots, lots and lots of dialogue but you're never really sure what the hell you're watching. I love shit like that. CONFUSE ME DADDY

Anyone who has Hulu and hasn't watched all of Brockmire at this stage is robbing themselves of the most underrated comedy I've ever seen.

If you want real mindfuckery do Synecdoche, New York or to be deeply depressed check out Anomolisa. (I'm a Charlie Kaufman mark...most creative screenwriter alive, full stop)

I just watched Haywire starring Gina Carano and it slaps. It's a Steven Soderbergh movie (he rules) so it doesn't have HUGE action set pieces but feels very kind of gritty and realish. She is NOT a good actress but everybody else in the film is and she looks great beating the shit out of dudes. It's on netflix. Heavy recommend.

It's dumb, sure, but the Eurovision film on Netflix was a strange surprise during the earlier stages of the pandemic in the US. I recommend it for anyone that wants a classic Will Ferrell bit and wants to feel like a queen at the same time - not one to miss.

Gonna throw out Mr. Robot as a recommendation. One of my favorite dramas of all time, season 4 just came out on Amazon Prime. Beautiful cinematography, incredible performances especially by Rami Malek, and some great twists.

I really enjoyed I’m Thinking About Ending Tjings. My girlfriend did not.
I just watched the Haunting of Bly Manor. It started really strong, but I don’t think I’d recommend it in the end. It’s far more of a soap opera with the window dressing of a horror show.

Finally watched Raging Bull which is great and the Pesci-Deniro-Scorsese triumvirate is electric right from its first time out but also there's some dicey scenes of them dealing with women. It's true to Jake Lamotta's life from my understanding but it's still a tough hang in those moments.
The boxing scenes alone are worth watching for tbh; everything else is in this movie's shadow for cinematic boxing scenes IMHO. (and i love Rocky and Creed but just sayin')

I've never seen Ordinary People but based on pure reputation I AM OUTRAGED! Also the Oscars are dumb AF even though I watch them and argue about them all the fucking time. They have some pretty historically epic fuckups when you look back at them.

Just started watching The Umbrella Academy on Netflix. Pilot peaked my interest, but I'm only on Ep.2 so wouldn't be willing to put my reputation on the line for it quite yet.

UA is very good, the two seasons feel very different but very good. Awesome music. edit: that was a very bad sentence, but I'm leaving it

Watched Terminator Dark Fate which was mostly fine. First 20-30 minutes slap and the first fight scene rules as does old ass Linda Hamilton's initial appearance as full-on action badass. Unfortunately that's the peak of the movie. From there the fan service (and the cringe it brings) outweighs anything interesting happening in the action setpieces (which are pretty big time.) Also the action is so relentless that it kind of renders itself meaningless (at least in the way it feels to the viewer). My fave part was actually one of the corny moments though tbh: When the scene opens with Arnold as a T800 saying something seemingly dramatic about "one wrong decision could ruin everything" but the scene continues and he was actually talking about his drapery business and concludes with something like "They wanted to put solid color drapes in a child's room and I said "NO! You must have balloons or polka dots!" ***** Also in case it's not clear, I watch a pretty fair amount of TV/movies. How do I do it with a job and two kids under 5? Simple! I literally spend 2 hours shitting everyday! (This is not an exaggeration)

The Boys. It's a show on Amazon Prime. It's really, really good. Surprised me how good it was. There's two seasons out, and season three is in production. it's basically kind of a parody of superheroes but also a showcase of how super heroes would likely be in real life. Here is the trailer for season one to give you a tease:

I just started watching The Boys and it's pretty good. It's on Amazon Prime. It's about a world where there's a superhero team run by a corporation with lawyers, PR, and everything. The superheroes are dicks and everyone knows it, but won't/can't say or do anything about it. The main character suffers a tragedy due to one of the superheroes which sets into motion of revenge plot. Very graphic and violent show. Likely to be a lot of triggers in this show based on the first episode alone.
