Gimmick: Gothic Loner
*Summary*
Gothic Loner looks like it blends aspects of monster or even supernatural but it is defined by being a dark character with a loner personality. It requires a moderate level of both skill sets and is only enhanced, the more creative and stronger the handler gets. The Gothic Loner exists in shades of grey. Never outwardly heel or face nor does it cop out with Tweener, the Gothic Loner is a strange compass for good and evil.
The Gothic Loner is good for all skill levels and is found at all tiers of the ecosystem. While not exactly a wildcard, the gothic loner can be played as such to create odd pairings and uneasy alliances in matches. The Gothic Loner exists to augment their placement on the card. They give that tier depth and color. In a sea of Narcs and heros, the Gothic Loner stands out but can get lost in the shuffle if there are too many monster gimmicks combined with low skills of the handler.
* Survival *
Loss: Low
Booking: Low
Burnout: Low
Longevity: Med
This gimmick is a survivalist. Suffers no penalty for loss or booking and can outlast burnout. When played right, even longevity isn't a problem. In the hands of the skilled handler, the gothic loner is tough to beat, pin down or even figure out from the opponent's prospective. The gothic loner is a slippery snake both literally and figuratively.
Survival Rating: 5 of 5
Pros: suffers no penalties from loss, booking and burnout. Low threshold to enter.
Cons: The gothic loner suffers in the same way place it excels, in the shades of grey. The loner isnt compelling on their own and suffers from lack of nuance. The little details make the gimmick shine and that can get lost with even the most veteran of handlers. The Gothic Loner suffers with experimentation of concepts. They are who they are and theres not much you can do to change tem.
* Shoot and CD can start as cons if the handler is new but quickly become pros but they require steady progress and upkeep.
Tier placement: ALL
Fed Utility: The Gothic Loner intimidates, confuses and tricks lower skill and card characters while taunting and causing havoc for higher tier and skilled characters. If the Gothic Loner is main event and played by a strong handler, watch out because its over before it started.
*Breakdown*
Ease of use: 2 of 5
The details are the killer of this gimmick. It’s easy in the broader sense of the gimmick but can quickly get out of hand either lost in the field or shallow in scope. The character has to always be thinking, scheming and working towards their own goals and cannot simply tread water. It is an active gimmick that requires thought.
Creativity level: Moderate
Consistency is the name of the game with the Gothic Loner and is all the gimmick needs to keep going with success
Experience level: ALL
All levels will find success with this gimmick
Writing skill: Moderate
Moderate writing skill is needed for entry as the details matter. The atmosphere and diction of the character matter. Low level writing skills cannot accomplish that.
Overall recommendation: 3 of 5
If you have skills or want to try your hand, it’ll be fine at all experience levels but moderate skills are key. You’ll enjoy a survivalist character in booking and loss but the character needs details, direction and dedication to be effective and stay successful
