The scene opens inside the Fusion Combat Complex, the state of the art training facility owned by Jake Keeton. Jake stands outside the ring as JC and another younger wrestler practice in the ring. The youngster whips JC into the ropes but JC ducks his clothesline attempt on the rebound and leaps up hitting Ode to the Outlaw to the back of the kids head and he immediately goes down holding his neck.
Jake: What the fuck JC!
Jake slides into the ring and attends to the kid as JC stands over them in shock.
Jake: You ok Nick?
He nods his head still holding the back of his neck as Jake glares up at JC.
Jake: Is that how I taught you to do that move?
JC: No… but I thought…
JC tried to answer but is cut off by his father.
Jake: But nothing Jon…
The elder Keeton stands, getting in the face of his much larger son and backing him into the corner of the ring.
Jake: You're fucking reckless! If you're gonna train in my gym you'll do the shit the way I teach you! Stop trying to get ahead of yourself. Get out of the ring you're done for today.
JC rolls to the floor, grabbing a water bottle off the apron and taking a gulp before slamming the bottle into the wall. He takes a seat on a bench and lets out a sigh.
What a difference a week makes huh? From the highest of highs..or something like that. The wave of emotion I was riding coming out of the Rumble had me so confident I knew I couldn't be beat in the #1 Contender match.
And I wasn't.
Flop is the one that lost that match, Graham didn't beat me and he knows it. I can't dwell on it cause I know I'll get my shot again, in fact Baker already said if he beats QDT at Revolution the first shot is mine and I'm holding him to it.
This week though is my first one on one match in an AW ring. It's my chance to prove that hype coming out of the Rumble was real and deserved without any factors like the ones that come with a battle royal or triple threat playing a part in the outcome.
I just dunno if I should be addressing Kabukii or Silver Goldstein.
I know which one I'll be in the ring with but we ain't fighting yet we're just talking so lemme talk to you first Silver. You're a slimey motherfucker aren't you? I kinda feel bad for Kabukii being so stupid that he let's you extort money from him.
That's what it is, extortion. You don't do shit but talk and the things you talk about you have no real knowledge about. I had the opportunity to have one of the greatest talkers in the history of this business do my speaking for me but I chose to do my own talking. Why you ask?
Cause the words of a man that speaks for another means less than the breath he wastes speaking them.
You're not the one getting in there with me, you're not the one who has to take the brunt of my angst and risks getting your head kicked off your fucking shoulders. That falls squarely on the shoulders of your client.
Your clients claim to fame is beating a guy who tucked his tail and ran from the CW division as soon as real talent arrived so that his status as one of the cornerstones of the division couldn't be tarnished by guys like me or even your client.
That's the thing, Kabukii is clearly talented. He's a veteran who should be relying on the skills that made him a name in Japan and not letting some douchebag do his talking or have to spit mist at people to win matches.
You think I'm not gonna be prepared for that shit? You're also sadly mistaken if you think I won't take the low road and win by any means necessary.
I come from a long line of cheaters, it's one of the things that made us famous.
