"Let's roll this one more time."
Silence, and the lit embers of a cigarette as Graham Baker is revealed, the SINISTER Heavyweight Championship on his left shoulder, and, just under it, the IBW FNC Championship. He leans back in his chair, and begins speaking.
"Current double-champion around the wrestling world, with three contenderships under my belt and certainly more on the horizon, all eyes on me. QDT's merely a howl on the wind for the moment, crying out in the distance, a destiny I've not yet made the time to confront, while my position just on the horizon allows me to reflect upon myself and take aim at more current goals. The most recently identified of those, of course, would be my opponent on January 13th's Cruiserclash, Eleanora Adares."
Baker flicks the cigarette out onto the ground, and crushes it under his boot.
"Eleanora...the opportunity of a lifetime, to leave your mark on the cruiserweight division, the opportunity to show your place in the food chain here by knocking off the best newcomer around, the man who defeated two other incredibly prolific cruiserweight talents on the path to securing his place at Revolution 3 against the first-ever four time cruiserweight champ QDT. I understand your desire, your drive to push forth and unseat me, throw my ass down from my ivory tower and show the world that Graham Baker isn't the top guy, he's not the cruiserweight king, but, rather, he's just someone who got lucky, someone who was in the right place, at the right time. I know you feel like defeating me has the potential to be a gateway to so many other promotions, so many pieces of glimmering gold, like these," Baker motions to the championships on his shoulder, "that you'll feel you have claims toward after you crush my ass into the canvas, that you feel will allow you to finally, finally strike out on your own. To separate yourself from the name commentary seated you with, to pull you apart from your soulmate, Anthony Leonheart. But, unfortunately, that's not the case."
Baker's eyes narrow toward the camera as he adjusts his championships.
"Because, y'know, I understand the process of getting everywhere by knowing everyone, but I don't quite dig that pathway. I had to pull myself up from my bootstraps with nothing to my name but a failed tenure at a wrestling school and a burning desire to succeed. I cut my teeth against some of the roughest motherfuckers on the independent scene, taking on whoever I could, wherever I could, whenever I could. I fell short dozens of times, finding myself on my back staring up at the lights more often then I wasn't. Even on my first ever TV appearance, I was defeated, I was cast aside, and I had to push myself harder and harder to get back from that. I didn't have anyone to hang my hat on, I just earned the respect of those I went to war with. I didn't have any easy path to a belt, I had to break my back day after night, painting the canvas with sweat and blood until somebody, anybody gave me my shot. I took every opportunity, until finally, someone saw me and lit the spark that sent me to where I am today.
You, Eleanora, you're a different story. Someone brought you here. Someone set you up nice and pretty with a contract, and while I can respect the ass-busting you had to do to find that person, you and I, we're not the same. You've found one big break to get you close to the top, Icarus, but your wings will burn off when you get too close to me."
Baker pauses for a moment, a wry smile on his face.
"In other words...sorry kid. No free rides."
