生き残ります (Survive)
“Just another piece of the puzzle, My Liege”, The Doctor said, his face still shrouded in mystery.
“What’s that, Doctor?” His Liege asked, “I can’t hear you over my waning patience.”
The Doctor catches the lump in his throat and swallows it down.
“My apologies, My Liege”, The Doctor answered, “This is all new to me. A work in progress. I think I’ve discovered another critical component.”
“Out with it already”, His Liege spat as his true demeanor came to the fore, “Enough of the mad scientist psychobabble.”
“In his previous life, our subject craved a deep familial web”, The Doctor began, “We can do a lot with simulations and projections, but a genuine, true human connection may be what we need to right the ship.”
“So the billions we’ve spent don’t matter because he needs a boyfriend?!” His Liege snarled.
“No, My Liege”, The Doctor responded in trepidation, “A brother.”
“Hmph”, His Liege huffed, “See it happens.”
Boots thud on tile as His Liege walks away.
“And Doctor?” His Liege from the other end of the laboratory, “No more mistakes.”
“Understood, My Liege”, The Doctor answered.

The scene opens at the famous Otoyo-jinja along the Philosophers Path in Kyoto, Japan. Sun Vulcan approaches it and rings a small bell to get the kami’s - two stone rats guarding either side of the shrines - attention. He puts a solid gold coin in an offering box and bows deeply twice. He says a silent prayer before turning around to address the camera.
The Cruiserweight Havoc Rumble didn’t go as I had hoped...but most things in life rarely do. I look not on this failure as a curse, but rather a blessing. Every single failure gives birth to more growth and with it come new opportunities.
I look at this next match as more then just a random tag team match on the very first Cruiserweight Clash of Two Thousand and Twenty as Victor Henry Stevens and I come together to face the indomitable pairing of Bolas de Arana and Psychopomp. I have nothing but respect for these two warriors and I revel in the challenges they will bring into this new year.
I worry not for our opponents, instead the danger presents itself in my own corner this week. Victor and I haven’t seen eye to eye since our arrivals in Action Wrestling, but one thing I’d dare to say we have in common is our in ring ability. Our synergy at the Havoc Rumble proved as much as we worked together to overcome the odds that were placed before us. Though neither of us stood victorious at the end of the night, we showed Action Wrestling that - together of all things - we are a forced to be reckoned with.
Most people would call VHS’s qualities rodent-like, but I don’t see that as an insult. Legend has it that right here on the Philosophers Path, an ancient deity was caught in a blazing field and was lead to safety by Shinto’s rat guardian through an underground passage. In Japanese zodiac, Two Thousand and Twenty marks the year of the rat.
I believe VHS and I are even more connected then either of us have realized. Will VHS be my rat guardian?
Only time will tell, but I’m putting fortune in the hands of fate.
I’ll put fortune in the hands of friendship.
Victor, I’m counting on you. Let’s go out there and show Action Wrestling what we’re made of.
