I should be defending the Cruiserweight Title in this rumble match. I should be entering this 30-man battle-royal as the CHAMPION, but instead, I’m entering as just another member of this roster. That’s not ok. It’s not just not ok, but it’s a travesty that cannot be allowed to continue. So...I won’t let it.
I have this one opportunity to ensure I get my hands on that title. If I fail, I will be back to square one, will have to scratch and claw and agonize over the struggle to have a shot at the top again. If I fail, no booker in the right mind will let me in the door again until I pin or submit every other contender in this division. There is no rewind. There is no undo. So...I won’t fail.
I am going to step in the ring at Havok and be forced into a corner by 29 other competitors in a match that can be decided as much by luck as it is decided by skill. I don’t like that, but it doesn’t matter what I like or what I want here. All that matters is that I keep my head on a swivel, keep my wits about me, and remember that EVERYONE in that ring is aiming for the win. EVERYONE in that ring is looking to take down the Raging Dead, to be crowned the NEW Cruiserweight Champion. But only one person will walk out the winner. Only one person’s theme will play at the end. Only one person’s arm will be raised when the bell rings and the 29th person evicted from the ring hits the mats outside the ring. Only one person will be crowned the FIRST EVER Cruiserweight Havok Rumble Winner. So...I’ll make sure it’s me.
This is history! VHS will make history! Raging Dead will BE history!
Look, Raging Dead has successfully defended his title against two of the greatest Cruiserweight Champions this company’s history. I’m not an idiot. I watched him win just the same as every one of you. I know he’s been around the block. That he has the Madclan. That he’s one of the essential cornerstones of what was Trinity Wrestling. All of that can be true and not render this untrue: the deck is absolutely stacked against him at Clash. 29. Opponents. TWENTY-NINE MEN AND WOMEN, ALL OF WHOM ARE TAKING AIM ON THE SAME PRIZE! So...I’ll ensure my aim is most true, that I look like Lee Harvey Oswald in a Dallas bookstore house.
The Cruiser division has never been bigger. The CW title, never as relevant. To be champion of this roster of Cruiserweights...it means something. To hold that purple gold makes you not just champion, but the best of the best, and make no mistake, Action Wrestling features the best competition out there. No one in the world can compete with this collection of athletes on any given Monday night. We are the best of the best, and to be the best of the best of the best means your name lives on forever. Even if I win that title for a night and lose it the next week like a Lissie Hope or FPV did in the World ranks, even if I win it once and never again, even if I win it in by hook and crook, at the end of that match, VHS WILL ALWAYS BE A CRUISERWEIGHT CHAMPION! That title will have always been mine at least once. It’ll be written in stone and NO ONE will be able to take it from me. So...I’ll make this time mine.
There are lots of names and faces that can make an impression in this rumble. There are lots of fates to be decided by just how hard bodies hit the floor and how demoralizing one’s elimination might be in this match. I control my fate. I am master of my destiny. I’ll be the man to quell the Rage, to put down the risen dead, to walk out of Clash with that belt. I might not be your favorite - in this company, in this match, in that ring - but I should be. I will be.
