Yeah, no one shoots like that and wins, Jacqui. People can be vicious and not cartoonish.

Gotta be angry.
Not even at your opponent.
Just be angry about something.
If you're not angry about anything find something that you can get angry about.

Yeah, no one shoots like that and wins, Jacqui. People can be vicious and not cartoonish. Except for the Twitter cool kids that everyone sucks up to. I am not joking, I've read their stuff unfortunately.

The biggest thing I can impress is: SHOOT AS THE CHARACTER. I cannot stress this enough.
Me, the handler: Damn, Wade Moor is a fucking monster, amazing record, brilliant character, in depth lore and lots of backstory to delve into.
The character, who does no research and just sees him as a fat neckbeard nerd: YOU OBESE CUNT.
It might come across as hokey, played and like you don't care - but if you then show in the prose and what other characters say about your opponent in the RP more layers to you (the handler's) understanding then you hit the magic spot. Not every character has to have fucking encyclopedic knowledge of who they're fighting. Why the fuck WOULD someone like ZMAC know who the fuck new signup #5 this week is?

Another important factor in good shoot:
SELL YOUR OPPONENT
Sure, you can talk about how much the other guy sucks and isn’t worth your time, but think about it like this: you’re basically telling viewers your match isn’t important. If your character doesn’t care, neither will the audience.
Being able to sell your opponent is a portion of selling the match. Up against a cocky up-and-comer? Point out how they can back those words up. Competing with a monster? Don’t give them a Spirit Halloween appearance; make them terrifying!
It might be tough to think of ways to put yourself over with your shoot, but I promise you that this can be done by putting over your competition.
