The first foray into combat in Action Wrestling had not gone how Flex Appeal had wanted. But it was just a first jump, it was just the beginning. No, they had to keep moving forward as with most things. The aim was still simple, to get to the very top of the Action Wrestling tag team division and they were going to do exactly that. They just needed to keep grinding at it. So what were they to do but keep pushing forward? Matt had been preparing, studying whatever had gone wrong and he had finally ironed out what the issue was. The piece that had been missing from the puzzle.
Matt was watching some tapes in the office at the gym he owned with his lovely wife — Skylar, this location also named ‘Flex Appeal’ after their team. He kept rewinding tape until he had it figured out. Just then, Skylar was wandering by with some paperwork in hand when Matt called out…
Matt Knight: “Eureka!”
He had some sort of an epiphany as Skylar stopped and leaned against the door frame, watching him as he seemed to have figured it all out.
Skylar Knight: “Figure something out?”
It seemed he had, glee overtaking him as he nodded and pulled up an office chair for her. He patted it, signifying she should get over there and sit.
Matt Knight: “I think so, we were running late to the building last show, right? We were trying our hardest but traffic got in the way, we had to hurry in, get dressed and hit the ring last minute.”
He seemed to be onto something. He had found some kind of correlation between several events and had pieced it all together into a theory. But would he ever explain exactly what his theory was?
Skylar Knight: “Yeah?”
Finally, he pointed to the television where he played the tape of the match they’d had on the recent edition of Action Wrestlings programming.
Matt Knight: “Okay get this, we’re both not all limber in this match… we didn’t get to do our pre match workout routine, none of our stretches, anything. We lost because…”
He tried to explain and the more he did so, the more excited Skylar seemed at what he was presenting. He had found the thing that had been missing in their formula in their debut night, but it wouldn’t happen again.
Skylar Knight: “Because we didn’t have time to prepare! I should have known, it was obvious!”
Something about all this added up just right and reignited their drive and determination to keep moving forward. They had to progress ahead, they had to move along down the path to the next contest and the next.
Matt Knight: “Exactly, so this time, we just need to get there early and do our thing and we’ve got this thing won.”
He spoke with confidence, giving her affirmation all they needed to do was get the time to prepare for their match. No traffic issues, they could get their rear ends to the place early and boom.
Skylar Knight: “Oh it’s gonna be easy then.”
The confidence coming from both of them was overwhelming and truth be told he knew anyone who faced them would bring a fight. It was wrestling, there would always be uphill battles. But this husband and wife duo were unstoppable, he knew it in his heart of hearts.
Matt Knight: “You know it.”
Eventually, after the two continued to discuss their game plan, their plan for the upcoming war to move forward in the ranks of the Action Wrestling roster… The two finally narrowed things down to what they needed to do and where they needed to go from the position that they were currently in.
Finally, we open up with Matt standing in front of some workout equipment. Skylar was in the background working with various weights, further toning her already toned, muscular form. Matt leaned forward into the view of the camera a bit better, ready to articulate several thoughts he had about the upcoming show as well as some past events.
Matt Knight: “Things sometimes don’t go according to plan and I’ve been in this business long enough to know that’s life. That’s just how things are sometimes and you know what? You learn to accept it. You learn to go with it. No use crying over spilled milk, we cannot go back in time and change what happened so that means moving forward. It means readjusting and aiming our sights on something else… someone else.”
He paused and let that hang in the air for a moment before letting the world know who it was he was readjusting the sights of Flex Appeal on. Skylar in the background still working out, giving a nod of approval now and again as he spoke.
Matt Knight: “When you fail once, you get back up and you go again. This time, we’re not going to lose. Carnivore and Roger Wright won’t be the ones to steal our thunder. Carnivore is a clown, there’s nothing there to take seriously. Yes, he has accolades but throughout the wrestling world he has been seen as somewhat of a joke. A punchline. A laughing stock. You have been clowned everywhere you’ve ever been, Carnivore. You’ve been the weak link pretty much everywhere… and much the same, you’re the weak link in this match tonight.”
He stopped and thought about it further, contemplating what else he needed to say in regards to his opponents. Then it hit him, deciding to carry on as he adjusted himself in his seated stance.
Matt Knight: “Roger Wright says he has the ‘wright stuff’ apparently, but let’s face it. We’re the real deal with flex appeal, me and this lady currently toning her sweet, sweet bod? We live being the ‘right stuff’, because we have everything it takes. We ooze attitude, charisma and every other kind of appealing thing you know you want. Try, try as you might, you’re going to drown in the sheer talent that Flex Appeal possesses. We will not stop, we will not cease, we will keep coming until we are acknowledged for what we know we are. The best, most athletic, most attractive tag team in Action Wrestling history.”
Another pause as he took a sip of water, the workout still in session behind him as he contemplated where to go from here. Then he sighed, letting out a chuckle, thinking about the situation that had presented itself. They’d failed once, but they would not fail again.
Matt Knight: “You call yourself Carnivore, you call yourself Daniel Dream. Whatever you want to be, you do whatever you feel is necessary. But to me you look like the Walmart’s smiley mascot went rogue, like you were some loser they trotted out to stores just opening and you lost your mind. When I saw we were placed in this match together, I asked my baby if this was some kind of joke. We are higher caliber athletes than you, Daniel. Yes you’ve done a few things in the business but not so much… lately? You don’t take us seriously coming out like a dope looking like something the Emoji Movie barfed out and you’re going to pay for that.”
He was pretty proud of the Emoji Movie reference, hearing Skylar give him a clap of her own as she seemed to be amused by his words to. He kept sitting there, further thinking over what to do, what to say, always quick to add more as he was quite the wordsmith.
Matt Knight: “You wanna bash my skull in? Try. Because I don’t believe you have what it takes. I believe you’re a lot of talk. I believe you’re someone who once had some piece of success in wrestling but the glory days are long past. I believe its time to take old yeller out back and put him out of his misery. This business thrives on young, new talent. Up and comers, rising stars set to be on top of the world and you are looking at the ones who fit that description. I suggest you move your ass out of the way or I promise you, Carnivore, Daniel, whatever you want to call yourself. Move, or we’ll make you move. Dream all you want, we are going to be your reality come showtime.”
Skylar Knight: “Like we said before, like it or not, Flex Appeal is the future.”
Matt Knight: “And like us, the future looks damn good.”
They met for a passionate kiss as the scene slowly faded to black. Once again, Flex Appeal had made a statement towards their opponents with the usual boisterous confidence. Would it prove fruitful? Were the young talents truly the future that they claimed and aspired to be? Or would the veteran Carnivore and his cohort be able to overcome the flurry of innovative offense perfected by the gym going baddies? We would soon find out!
