Yeah, Jaice is right. As long as you make it clear that it's not your own work then you're good. However, if majority of your RP is you reading the book (not saying you will, just making an example here), then you're going to be frowned upon in the judging of your content. You can cite sources all day but if the vast majority of your RP isn't your own work, it's not a good idea. It works the same with writing papers in school.

Much agreed with Gravedigger here. The purpose of written feds is to encourage creative writing. If you're just using other people's work, then there's no creativity being utilized, thus missing the point of efedding.

If you're just using other people's work, then there's no creativity being utilized, thus missing the point of efedding. At the same time, though, there can be opportunities where utilizing someone else's work can be creatively used. Take Karlie's recent story; sure, its using literature that is not her own, but its being utilized in a way that helps develop her character and add depth. I do agree, though, that strictly using content from others without doing anything on your own is pretty much the lowest hanging fruit you can reach for.

So you're saying that I'm not going to be able to retain the title with my new RP in which SJW rips off Andy Kaufman's routine of reading the entirety of The Great Gatsby to an increasingly impatient audience?

That is very true, Dion. I was merely meaning using content that isn't yours without adding any sort of twist to make it your own.
