=====> A few hours before Execution <=====
There are quite a few fans packed outside of the Bud Walton Arena, waiting for the doors to open so that they can go in. All of the entrances are blocked off except for one. There is an inflated dark tunnel leading to the doors. Three people emerge from them. Two security guards and a beat up man that they're dragging across the ground before coming to a stop in front of the crowd. This catches their attention instantly as they stare at the trio in silence. A fourth person emerges from the tunnel. This one unknown. Just a druid with a gun. Without saying a word, the druid shoots the downed man in the back of the head. The fans are still stunned silent. A handful of them understand what's happening, but the rest are taken aback. The druid walks back through the tunnel, followed by the guards and the corpse that they continue to drag, the last of which leaves behind a trail of blood. A few moments of silence pass before Vanessa walks out from the tunnel in regular clothing. She has a megaphone in one hand and a tablet in the other.
Vanessa: WHO'S READY FOR EXECUTION!?!?!?!?
Realizing what had happened, the crowd breaks out into applause and cheers of excitement.
Vanessa: Wonderful! I'm so pleased that so many of you showed up so early! I know Execution isn't for another few hours, but I have a gift for you all to hold you over until then!
She raises up the tablet and hands it to the officer closest to the tunnel entrance. Then, the presses a button on the screen.
Vanessa: I set a timer on that tablet for 30 minutes. When that half hour passes, the gates to Hell will open, and you will all be able to enter through here.
Her tone shifts into a serious one that that isn't heard often from her..
Vanessa: However, I must warn you. What's inside is not for the feint of heart. It's gonna get downright terrifying in there. I hope you're prepared........
Suddenly, she returns to her cheerful self and waves.
Vanessa: See you soon, everyone!
The crowd pops in anticipation as she walks back through the tunnel.
=====> Thirty minutes later <=====
The alarm goes off, letting out the sound of a gong being struck. It was similar to the one heard at the beginning of the old Mortal Kombat theme. The gates to the tunnel open, and the fans begin to pour in. Only a few, dim and vastly spread lights are there to help guide them. Along the way, they come across limbs on the ground before spotting full corpses towards the end. There are also a few screams and movements that scare them at every opportunity. The most persistent was a cry for help from a distorted female voice. When they reach the end, they find a TV mounted on a wall with a video playing.
The screen shows a summoning circle in the back of the arena. Vanessa is kneeling in the middle of it. Tears are running down her face as she stares upward.
Vanessa(narration): I just wanted to be a good host. I wanted to be the confident composer of a beautiful symphony of horror. I wanted them to remember this night fondly, but I was too afraid. I was scared that I wouldn't be scary enough. I worried about failing those that gave me this chance in the first place. I....I.....I became desperate. I sat there, and I prayed to both the heavens and the depths. I begged the stars above and the shadows below to make me a great host. I guess I should've worded it better.
A shadowy figure rises behind her. Vanessa turns her head slowly. Fear filled her eyes at what she saw, but before she could react, the shadows took her. Then, just as quickly as the darkness had arrived, it vanished...and so did she.
Vanessa(narration): I don't know what's happening anymore. I don't know where I am. I saw the gates open. I tried calling for help, but everyone just passed me by. Even the ones that halted for a second resumed their journey a moment later. What have I become? A host, or a sacrifice? If I'm the latter, then I hope that my sacrifice will be worth it.
The screen fades to black as a light shines over the tunnel's exit.
=====> Moments before Execution <=====
The Bud Walton Arena is packed with fans as they eagerly await the start of one of, if not THE most, gruesome PPVs of the year. They also wonder what's going on in the ring. Less than 20 minutes earlier, a few druids came out. The unknown figures made their way to the ring and began to draw a summoning circle. Then, once they were finished, the apparent leader of the bunch opened up a book and started chanting. The chanting has been going on for about 10 minutes now. The distorted voice returns.
The fans start to cheer a bit because things are haaaaappeniiiiinnnng.
Suddenly, the druid closes the book and the lights go out. The same gong from before sounds. This time, it's followed by the ActionTron coming on. A set of vignettes begin to play, featuring every wrestler set to compete tonight while an orchestral version of the Mortal Kombat theme plays.
Vanessa(narration): Have you ever wondered why nightmares are more memorable than good dreams? It's trauma. A nightmare is fear created by trauma. The scariest part is that we almost never see trauma coming, but when it does, we can't let go of it. Sights that you wish you could unsee. Pain that you wish you didn't feel. They are often born on nights like this. Nights where people put their lives on the line, going through immense amounts of agony. Moments where the stakes are raised and gladiators fight even harder, even to the death in some cases. For them, the physical pain may wear off, but the mental scars never go away. For us, we are merely captives. Prisoners forced to witness every traumatic moment that transpires. We hope that nothing traumatic happens, but we truly don't know beforehand. That's what scares us and keeps the loved one's of these warriors up all night before a chaotic event like this. Sadly, those brave souls are not safe from trauma, and neither are we....
The video package starts displaying the Execution cage, the brutality that people in previous Execution Cage matches have gone through, and the people getting ready to step into the sinister structure tonight.
....especially when we're trapped in a cage. On a night that will not end without blood being shed, there will be nowhere for us to run to. Crying and screaming will do us no good. The gates of Hell have closed, and we're all locked in. Judgment is upon us. I hope you're ready. The time has come for us to face....Execution.
The ActionTron shuts off and the lights come on. Everything that was in the ring earlier is gone. From the druids to the circle. They've all vanished. All that remains is the result of the summoning. A succubus, or at least Vanessa dressed up and painted like one, with a microphone in her hand.
Vanessa: Hello, wayward souls!! Welcome to the most prominent horror night and gorefest of the year, EXECUTION!!!!
The arena floods with the hyped up shouts of the people inside.
Vanessa: Before the carnage begins, I would like to take this opportunity to give all of you a chance to pray to whatever you believe in...or don't believe in. Pray for the health of those competing tonight, the hearts of everyone that witnesses this spectacle, and the souls of everyone in attendance. Please pray for us all if you can.......we're gonna need it.
Vanessa walks out of the ring and off to the back. The final moments before the PPV pass like sand in an hourglass as the event is ready to start.
