August 30th - Following Uprising: All-In
“CJ PHOENIX!”
Your ears are assaulted before your eyes can adjust, as the unmistakable shrill voice of Jill Park echoes throughout her room at the Hilton Los Angeles. Soon after, you can hear the shatter of what can only be assumed to have previously been a glass vase. As the camera adjusts, we see Jill Park standing in the middle of the room, shards of glass all around her, littering the hotel room’s floor. Her makeup is smeared on her face, and she just looks all out of sorts.
“I had that fucking match won. I had the DAMN BRIEFCASE in my hands! And CJ...he...he…
He…”
It’s almost like her entire train of thought is derailed. She stands there, staring off into the distance, before it’s broken up by yet another blood-curdling scream.
But then, a notification tone sounds from Jill’s phone on the other side of the room. As she stops screaming long enough to somewhat compose herself, she grabs the phone out of annoyance. As she swipes the screen, a smirk grows on her face.
Friday, September 10th
Jill Park sat alone at a small circular table near the end of the patio, outside the Great White Cafe. She clasped a latte with both hands as she brought it up to her lips. As she placed the cup back down onto the wooden table, her eyes darted all over the place. She was a little surprised she was being left alone. Then, as she peered over the table, the chair on the other side was inhabited by another woman.
Lissie Hope.
Jill nodded in her direction, Lissie was exactly who she had been suspecting. Jill had been compared to “The Blackheart” almost since her arrival in Action Wrestling. That may or may not have helped form what was likely Jill’s only friendship among the Action Wrestling roster, although the two had still not spent much time together. Although, there was clearly at least a mutual respect.
“Hey, Lissie.” Jill seemed surprised by the sudden arrival, but played it cool nonetheless. She lifted up her cup again after greeting Lissie.
“Hey Jill, I just wanted to check up with you after Uprising.”
“Oh, and why’s that?”
“I know that All-In is a huge opportunity. I know what it means to everyone who is in it.”
“Because you won it.” Jill rolled her eyes.
“No Jill, that’s not it, exactly. I know you’re upset that you are not in possession of the All-In briefcase right now. But I also want you to know that in the grand scheme of things, this loss doesn’t matter. Everyone is still looking at you. You are still one of the rising stars of this company. Everyone sees you. That isn’t going to change.”
“That’s all great, Lissie. I mean sure, thanks for the support. It’s nice to have. But, is all this because of what I did on Clash? Surely you’re not here to give me some sob story about what I did to QDT or Kemp.”
Lissie stared back at Jill for a few seconds, but did not say a word. She seemed conflicted. This seemed to slightly aggravate Jill.
“Just tell me what’s on your mind. That’s one way you’re different from everyone else around me, you’ll actually tell me.”
“Well it’s that you’re kind of building up this reputation. Is that how you want everyone to see you? If it is, then that’s fine, that’s you. But you can’t be one foot in. You have to commit.”
“It’s exactly how I want everyone to see me. I’m not going to pussyfoot around the AW locker room worrying about them not liking me. I’m sure you knew that, I won’t ever walk on eggshells around anybody.”
“Yes, I know.”
“I guess maybe, I should have taken your advice about All-In.”
Lissie may’ve been a little surprised by that admission, but she nodded.
“It’ll be fine. I’ve lost matches, big matches even, and I’m now the United States Champion. Maybe you should come to one of my seminars.”
“Maybe…”
“Hey, Jill: there was another reason I wanted to talk to you.”
“Oh yeah?”
“How’s your sister? You haven’t really said anything to anyone about it.”
“She’s uh...fine.”
“Fine? She was hit by a car. You were obviously distraught by it.”
Jill appeared to get a little irritated at the questions about Caylee. Her eyes darted around for a few seconds before they met Lissie’s again.
“I don’t want to talk about it.”
Lissie put her hands up, dismissively. “That’s fair, that’s fair.”
“Yeah…” Jill replied, absent-mindedly as she looked down at her phone. “Listen, I have to go. But before I do, don’t worry about that footage I lost.”
“Oh, okay. That’s good actually because I don’t-”
Jill stood promptly and interrupted Lissie. “It’s all on the cloud, anyways.”
Jill nodded and walked away from the table, leaving Lissie to digest that as she may.
